as the one with them 10 years ago this week (Sept. 20, 2003)? I mean that game is generally considered to have thrust us into the national prominence picture. This one would just as well! BTW, was at that one and will be in that # Sat.!

I think 2003 put us in the national spotlight. I think we are currently already in it this season. People know we are a force to be reckoned with. Even if our defense is suspect at times.

UGA is in must win mode to keep their title hopes alive. UGA will have to win out to play for national title.

Yep. Every SEC game from here on out this year is monumental until we lose one.

When you are playing for a NC like we are, they are all monumental. One loss and you can be out of the hunt.

2003 was a more important game because as steventiger stated it showed college football on a national level the Tigers are for real and if come to Death Valley we don't care what you are ranked "UGA was 7th at the time" you had better bring a sack lunch because it is going to be an all-day job. The 2003 game is showed everyone LSU was back!!!

This game, while important to this year's national title and SEC title implications, if we lose the game LSU is still going to be considered one of the top 5 national programs in the country, don't think you could say that in 2003 prior to that game. And winning the game, while people outside of the SEC might not understand exactly how tough it is to win on the road in the SEC, most individuals will feel that the #6 team in the nation should beat the #9 team in the nation irrespective of where the game is played.

Which is why the NFL is more popular than ever and always will be over college. The giants were 8-8 barely made the playoffs and beat the 18-0 Patriots. Everyone has a chance, college...not so much.

with bama's and a&m's pussy conference schedule we can afford to lose one conference game to anyone but them. so, in itself, this game is not monumental but if we lose we have to go undefeated the rest of he season.

the game is monumental for georgia. if we win, they are probably out of the race.

The national championship or bust mentality has to drive you crazy. Based on our attrition, schedule, and showing on defense we are not a national championship contender. Manage your own expectations and you might add some years to your life...

I never said NC or bust. But as long as you're in the running you fricking play for it. We're 4-0 a s #6. Why the frick would you hurt your chances this early? You are one stupid mf'er if you don't think we are a contender. You play to win every game or you don't play at all. I won't cry if we lose. But I still believe we are damn well capable of winning them all

Sorry but you are out of your mind what a stupid post devoid of any thought.

Did college football need a playoff system? Yes, but the reason an 8-8 team can make the playoffs has nothing to do with anything other than pure mathematics plain and simple. Mathematics 101 for you, 32 teams, 12 playoff spots prior to starting the season you have a 37.5% chance of making the playoffs. That is why an 8-8 team can have a chance to win the Superbowl. There are approximately 120 FBS teams in college football, even though there is a mathematical possibility of a team making the BCS or now playoffs with a less than .700 winning percentage the probability is slim to none. But the Bowl games are thought of as the playoffs in college football and that is why College football is as popular as it is and will continue to be going forward.

College football has been tweaking things to get it right and they finally have with the playoff system. As soon as it is expanded to 8 teams, I feel it will be as good as it gets. But you will never see a 6-6 team make the playoffs because of the mathematics too many teams vying for too few spots.

That being said I feel it is the exact opposite, College football is better than NFL because every game counts if you truly want to vie for a National Championship, you can't expect to lose 3 or 4 games and still be in the hunt for an NC. NFL you can suck for half the games and still get in, it has nothing to do with how good a team is the entire season only how good your division is that you are in that year and if you get hot in the playoffs.

IF we lose, we beat them later in ATL in my opinion, so it is not monumental, but man I cant stand a loss to them (both uncles are UGA grads)

If we lose, I vote to fire everybody and process all the players. Call it a self-imposed death penalty.

LSU theoretically can lose and still make the NC game. UGA must win for NC chances...

You show the anomaly, not the norm and say that is why the NFL is more popular than ever and will be over college. Personally I don't think the NFL is more popular than college in the first place, then you take into account the only reason why a 8-8 team beat the 18-0 Patriots has nothing to do with deserving to make the Superbowl and has everything to do with simple mathematics. 37.5% of the teams in the NFL are going to make the playoffs and have a chance to win the Superbowl. And in fact you could make the argument that is the problem with the NFL, the teams that bust their arse the entire season end up losing to a team that was a .500 team and maybe should have not gotten that shot because of their lack of body of work. In college you know that the top 2 teams, or next year 4 teams, are going to being playing for the NC and they are deserving that right because of their entire body of work, not if they just backed into the playoffs and got hot during the playoffs.

Don't you want to see the teams that have done their jobs the entire season and have earned the right to play for the NC get that opportunity, not the teams that took half the season off. I would hate to see a 6-6 team play at 12-0 team for the NC, my only thought would be "they don't deserve or belong to be in that position." It would make me "and I bet a bunch of fans" want to watch the game less, not more!!!!!
