I posted a bunch of questions to folks on this board prior to my trip and you all asked me to post a "review" of LSU after I got back. Well here it is.

WOW. Amazing. Best experience yet. Ruined me for all other trips....get the picture?

I was completely impressed by everything I experienced this weekend. The food, folks, football...all of it. I did walk around in my NCSU gear like I said I would and the first two things out of folks mouths were very consistent:

1. You all got screwed Thursday night!
2. You got any place to tailgate? C'mon over!

The hospitality was unmatched anywhere I've been.

Friday we went to Walk-Ons for lunch, great place. Walked around campus because it was dry, saw Mike's palace he lives in, and finished up with dinner at Chimes. Yes, we had the boudin balls...they were great.

Saturday we showed up about 9 and parked in the Kirby lot. It took some serious convincing it was a free place to park. There isn't that much free parking at NCSU or ECU, my usual tailgate places.

After we parked we decided to talk to a massive tailgate that was setting up to confirm it was a free lot. They confirmed and immediately asked us to join them. Nice folks, very friendly, and we got our first real impression that we were going to be in for a good day.

After about an hour it was time to head over to the RV lot where a neighbor of mine had hooked us up with some folks. Got about 2/3 of the way there and realized I forgot my rain gear in the car. As I was walking back I met 2 different posters from this board that recognized me by my shirt. You guys didn't leave your handles, but thanks for saying hello.

I also ran into a group of Auburn frat boys...only assholes I met all day, but that is a different discussion.

Rain gear back in hand, it was back across campus to Tailgate village 1. Ya'll sure do have a ton of RVs. Took us at least 30 minutes to find the right spot, and we had the space number.

Rest of the tailgate was great, good folks, music, food, and drinks. We heard a lot of good stories and got several invitations for return trips.

We made it to our seats in plenty of time for the band and pregame. Very nice (would love to see the place on a dry day). Good use of video boards, the band was talented (its tough to play in the rain, I know), and the crowd was feisty for it being a downpour.

Won't get into the game, assume you watched it, but Dad and I had a blast and stayed until almost the end (had a 645 flight Sun morning).

All in all, great trip and is the new Gold Standard for us. It will be hard to go somewhere else next year if LSU has a decent home game on our available weekend.

That's all I'm going to write for now, but please ask anything you want to know. I promise to give an impartial response.

Thanks again for all the hospitality, and a great time. If you all ever get to an NCSU game, come find me...I'll be the one in the red! (Was told to look for the guys in Purple and Gold a lot Saturday).

I'll write more later.

Glad you had a great day

I wish you could come to a game against a highly ranked opponent or bama.

Scott Van Pelt of ESPN was at the LSU-gumpNeck game last year and said it was the most amazing sporting event he had every been to, among other things :)
Hope you come back!

The Auburn fans are going to be REALLY PISSED (no pun intended) that you didn't get any piss balloons (real or imagined) thrown at you.

That 2020 game ain't gonna happen. I have sources in the NCSU Athletic Dept and LSU initiated discussions to cancel the games. Let's face it, you have nothing to gain from playing us. You win, no big deal...we win, world comes to an end. Too risky.

As for loud and crazy in the rain, I took the weather into account. If this was a dry game my thoughts would have been different. I DO want to come back for a bigger (and drier) game.

For context I figured I would put up a list of places I have been:

NC State
East Carolina
Clemson
FSU
VT
Penn State
Ohio State
Texas
Texas A&M
Georgia
South Carolina
Tennessee
Baylor
Miami
UNC-heats
Duke
Wake
UVa
Maryland
Georgia Tech

Probably missed a few, but you get the point. I've been all over, so I have a pretty good handle on where folks stack up.

And you did get the ACC version of the "REC" against Clemson. Watched it live.

I think I saw you! Great to see y'all had a great time even with the rain. And you're right about the crowd despite what folks will say. The first half was insane and will be a cherished drunken moment for myself for a while, and even after folks left it was still loud.

I lold at the video board thing

Yeah, that's why I put the lol.

You never know, though, they could change it to a one-off game in the Peach Classic opener - or whatever they call it.

BTW, I've liked the Wolfpack ever since the Valvano days. I hated Jordan.
