I've fished my entire life and never caught one of these, and never actually seen one in person. I know many consider it a trash fish but I'm just happy that I can mark it off my list. I'll tell you what...those suckers are strong as hell, fight to the death and are not hard to clean, contrary to popular opinion.

Mouth of Tchefuncte River in Madisonville around 5pm...Kayak, popping cork 1' under, market shrimp, Kahle hook, PowerPro.

27" long, 12" girth, about 6-7lbs.

Hard to hook when you're catching them regularly.

I imagine she rolled on you a bit, huh?

It went berserk...ran about three times and then tried to get itself tangled in my Mirage Drive on my kayak. It was hooked deep, so it wasn't coming off.

Those frickers destroy spinner baits. I've had plenty bent to hell because of them.

That's Grendel, brah.

Actually the word is grinnel, but when big like that seem more like a monster.

North LA terminology like Wood Duck=Squealer.

Nasty frickers and they absolutely destroy any bait they decide to chomp on too.

Caught some monsters on Lake Verret side before Coon Asses started selling the roe. Haven't caught many since.

This here. I caught one bass fishing in Beouf river as a kid. Wanted to show my pops who was up the hill, so I reached down and lipped it. Never ever ever lipped another one.

So you lipped a fish that has more teeth than Jaws?
