Watching Lee Feinswag...they made a comparison saying Cecil the Deisel was probably better than Kevin Faulk...then I got to thinking...thru college and the NFL? They are probably right...what say you?

People forget that Cecil was an absolute beast in college.

It does not matter because you cannot play if your in jail no matter how good you are. Faulk keeps his Ducks lined up and has a good College Career and a Pro Career. Meanwhile the Diesel is in Jail.

Cecil took KFs position and wasn't letting go so it looked. But KF had a better career of course.

Cecil played bc Faulk was hurt. He didn't "take his position".

Collins had me convinced when he flat backed Spikes auburn game 97.

at the time, everyone knew CC was better. and in college, he was. at least for that short time.

"And wasn't letting go". Do you remember the fully healed Faulk standing on the sidelines? It was a little awkward.

Faulk is my all time favorite Tiger, but Cecil was better no doubt.
Here are his numbers for the 97 season:
vs UTEP did not play
Vs a good Miss State team- 22 carries for 172 yards
vs a good Auburn team- 27 carries for 232
vs Akron- 20 carries for 179.
I believe he was leading the country in rushing after 4 weeks despite only playing in 3 games. I dont think its an exaggeration to say his talent was in a league with Bo Jackson and Herschel Walker. Biggest waste in LSU history.

Bull. shite.
A failed athlete's ability is often overestimated based on some woulda coulda shoulda nonsense. Cecil was a great back but Kevin Faulk was hands down better.

He had the best 3 game stretch I've ever seen an LSU back have.

i still think alley broussard, had he not quit football following an injury, could've been our best back.
i look forward to being flamed for that.

Amp Hill would've won 3 Belitnekoff's. GOAT IMO.

Collins was going to take Faulk's spot as the #1 back, before he broke his leg......so I would say yes on that. But, Cecil could have been an All Pro NFL running back had he not been a basket case, so nothing to be ashamed of there for Faulk. Kevin is one of my favorite all time players, and will go down as a much larger ambassador to LSU than The Diesel could ever think of becoming.

Cecil Collins was an incredibly gifted runner with ultra-elite talent in that regard. He accomplished next to nothing. Faulk was a less gifted but still outstanding runner, a first rate return man, a skilled blocker, an outstanding receiver, a leader, and a teammate of the Highest Order. His accomplishments are legion. Third leading rusher in SEC history, all time leader in total yards (rushing + receiving + returns) in SEC history. Three Super Bowl rings. It takes an incredibly narrow view of "better" to say that Cecil Collins was better than Kevin Faulk.
Lagniappe: Faulk has the most career rushing yards in NFL history by someone who never rushed for 100 yards in a game.

Cecil Collins had the most upside of any LSU back that has been here in the last 20 years .......and then he pissed it all away so
