he's right. Plus Binge watching is very common now. I prefer it. I have watched a few Netflix series. I'm a fan of his and Orange is the New Black. I like the content they are giving and thing it is better than the Network model. I had no idea so many pilots would never be aired. I wish they would put them on Netflix, I bet there is good stuff out there.

very interesting

"through this demonstration we have showed that we (netflix/house of cards) have learned the lesson that the music industry never did, give the consumer what they want when they want it, that way they will be much more likely to pay for it than steal it"

Basically just saying, dont mess up like they did

I've been saying similar things. Technology has shifted the balance of power to the consumer, which I like. The days of holding us hostage for content are done. Give us what we'd like at a reasonable price and everyone can be happy.

Spacey is one of the smartest people in the media industry and a damn fine actor. I enjoyed his well spoken common sense almost as much as I have his performances.

That was an odd quote.

Completely agree with him from what he said in the video.

The model is changing and needs to continue in that direction. The binge viewing is completely legit. It's what most of us do. Unless the networks look for long term shows and allow new viewers to catch up (binge) on seasons past, they are going to lose.

You'll have, as he said in summary, pilot after pilot and canceled show after canceled show.

Give people want they want. #1 senseless reality shows, #2 captivating stories you'll watch for 5+ seasons.

here's the thing about pilots.

think about all the tv shows that last for a season and get canceled. Or shows like cavemen, who get canceled after just a few episodes.

These are shows that were PICKED out of hundreds of other pilots.

Can you imagine how crappy most pilots are?

A few months ago Amazon was pushing about 40 pilots to Prime users and I think 5 ended up getting green lit based at least in part on user data.
