Mike Ditka won a superbowl, and was the
first tight end ever inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame

I don't see Drew Brees going into politics either. Somebody's going to bring up his mom.

Nah. Plenty successful politicians have flaky/fricked up parents and/or parental relationships.

Peyton doesn't seem like he has the temperament to be a head coach, like he'd just be pissed off his QB couldn't see the defense like he does and make play calls on the fly.

I think Brees would be a decent head coach but he in the best way possible he is "too emotional". Peyton would work non-stop to constantly give his team an upper hand. If he became a head coach his offense would be equivalent in the NFL to what Saban's defense is in the FBS.

This. Brees will run for Mayor/Congress within a few years of retiring and win in a landslide.

Of a town in California? Doesn't he spend 90% of his time in Cali?

With the money they make why would they want to put up with all those egos. I think Manning would be one hell of an offen coord but Brees didn't do so well calling plays during bounty season.

Kellen Moore from Boise State will be an excellent coach or coordinator some day. As for Brees and Manning, I expect Manning to do some pre-game show or just start up some football schools. Brees said he does want to try his hand in politics after he's done. Like others said, he'd probably win in a landslide. Well, depending on where he ran.

When you're writing your paper on carpetbagging Senators be sure to include those lifelong New Yorkers Bobby Kennedy and Hillary Clinton

Brees would be a great motivational speaker. As a head coach? Meh.

First name that came to mind was Dale Brown

I don't know that Brees's heart will be into football after retirement. I remember reading that his first love was baseball, and he still is a huge fan of the sport. His name would automatically get him enough recognition to get started somewhere, maybe Purdue due to his history with the school. That's if he chases his childhood dream. I personally see him doing something in finance/investments.

You have to be a pretty filthy person to get involved with politics (especially in Louisiana), and I just don't see him stooping that low. I don't think Brees is really all that camera savvy - he's very personable, but in modern politics you have to be good on camera moreso than good with people.

Isn't Brees a Republican?

He could be the first Republican NOLA Mayor in quite sometime.

He owns a house here. Usually that's all that matters for qualifying. Now, an opponent could make the argument he's mostly a Californian but do you think the voters will care?

Edit: 'here' meaning New Orleans.
