Hubby got a one 2 weeks ago that was just over 12 an a half feet north of BR. He was in a 14 ft boats so they had to tow it to shore. But yeah, this 13 ft one is bigger, dangit!! Oh well, maybe next year

Gingerkitty

I caught a 13 footer a couple days ago with my bare hands. I let him go though I am a lover not a killer.

re: 760 pound gator killed in WBR Parish

This is the one my hubby caught. It was not quite 13 feet. I have to say that "Swamp People" is completely dramatized. Gator hunting is quite easy, not the overly hyped struggle that "Swamp People" like to promote. I go with hubby to take pics and to keep him company.

We hunt on property where the population of gators need to be reduced so we are doing it as a favor to the land owner. We also sell the meat and keep some of it for the guys to have a big gator feast, hubby is eating fried gator tail as we speak. My kitties LOVE eating gator meat and I am secretly amused that my cats are higher on the food chain than gators.

We brought him to the same processor that the 760 gator was sold to in Morganza

Depends. the smaller alligators net a lower price per foot. here are a few kinks to the various prices:
LINK "By Season 3 of Swamp People, which was filmed during the 2011 alligator season, the prices had gone way up, and we reported on them in a lot more detail. 7ft gators still brought in $14/ft at market, but 8 ft. gators sold for $22/ft, and those over 9 feet went for $26/ft. "

I'm thinking that the price here locally where we sold ours are higher, The larger ones are going for well over $30 per foot (length). Super large one can get about $34 or 40. It also depends on the quality of the gator, any damage to his hide, etc.

So our gator which was longer than 12 and a half and the guys received earned us about500 plus bonus for the great shape the gator and his hide was in,

Why can't people ever take a realistic freaking picture? If you want to show the size of something, someone needs to stand right next to it, not in the background to change the perspective and make it look bigger. Hate when fishermen hold their fish out towards the camera.
