Mash Here

quote:

We've heard plenty about current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones potentially moving up to heavyweight in the future, but what if he did it for something that had nothing to do with mixed martial arts (MMA)?

Lance Pugmire of the LA Times is reporting that Jones' recent boxing training has been so encouraging that the champ is considering a future boxing fight, and it's not just any boxing fight, it's a Klitschko bout.

Now this is likely just to get in Gustaffson's head and nothing more, but would Jones have a chance in hell with the pillows on his hands against someone like the K brothers?

I miss those old school exhibition fights.

I'd kind of like to see it, but there's no way that Wlad would do it.

Since Vitali is essentially retired right now, maybe he would do it for charity or something.

Meet Jones in the middle and have a kickboxing exhibition. Vitali was a heavyweight champion in that discipline back in the day. It'd be fun. I'd watch.

Lol the Klitschko's would destroy him. Bones Jones would have no answer for the jab and the straight right.

In more interesting news, Bernard Hopkins said he wants to fight Mayweather at 160 in May.

That won't happen but still interesting.

The sport of boxing wants nothing to do with MMA. They don't want UFC fighters kicking their "fighters" asses.

Jones v vitali in an exhibition bout would be awesome. Just hope nobody does.

FWIW, I believe either discipline would dominate under its own rules. In particular, I believe if MMA guys could box, they would. The money is still absurd.

It depends on the discipline and the rules. MMA is no longer no-holds barred. The rules are as stringent as boxing.

Straight up boxing match? Even a 40-year old Vitali beats Jones. That's why I suggested a kickboxing match.

Also heard that Golovkin would be willing to fight Mayweather at 154.

I would pay to see a Hopkins-Mayweather fight. B-Hop would probably lose (although his rough-house tactics can get any fighter off their game), but it'd be a well deserved retirement payday for him.

Anyone who thinks an MMA fighter would outbox a boxer needs to get a damn clue.

In a boxing match, Jones would fold like a lawn chair.

Well he's the better of the two even at 40 so yeah...

But like pretty much everyone has said, Jones would get mauled.
