My father-in-law is coming down to the NOLA area and he wants to do a swamp tour.
I have never done any research into the guided tours that are offered, and I wondered if the OB has any suggestions?

I took my buddy on the Cajun Pride swamp tour near Laplace. It was pretty solid.

I went on one, and the guy had a pet gator. The gator had no tape on it's mouth. He would let people hold it and pet it. He said it was the only tame gator in Louisiana. He had raised five generations to tame that one gator. Wish I could remember the tour, thought that was awesome. It followed him like a dog.

I bet it was as tame as a Vegas white tiger.

I recommend Airboat Adventures in Lafitte, LA.
A lot of fun...ask for "Captain Mounkey"...he is very entertaining and makes for a great trip .
If you go, request a smaller boat...it's more fun.
Hope your dad enjoys his trip.

Do one of the ones on the airboats, those are more fun imo. The other ones are slow and kinda boring.
Can't remember the name of the company but I took my husband on one years ago. Did a sunset swamp tour on the airboat. The other people cancelled so it ended up just being us and the tour guide. We asked to go fast and he obliged. Caught a small baby gator, brought him on board for a bit and then let him go. Husband loved it.
Wish I could remember the name, but they were the same group that the Real World New Orleans went on years ago(it was a controversial episode due to a racial remark made by the tour guide).

Arthur Matherne is who you're talking about. His racial remark was just pointing out the south LA name for a cormorant. He's about 40 minutes out of New Orleans in Des Allemands.

That's it! It was a younger guy that did led our tour. They were awesome though, totally recommend them.
