OK, he finally got some playing time. Watched the game live, no review. Anyone done any analysis of his play?

Offhand I am encouraged that he might be that extra piece of the D that raises LSU up a notch!

Yeah here is my analysis. He is underrated as a pass rusher. In all tyre games he has come in during the first series in third down passing situations. I've seen him fight through 5 double teams and almost sack the qb (all games combined).

He pressured the qb again.

In the second and fourth quarter he played at MLB. We instantly started stuffing the inside running game.

This guy excels at rushing the passer and roaming the middle of the defense.

Saw him make a nice open field tackle on the running back. Good lateral pursuit. Charlie and Risher think he's the future at MLB.

I just got off the phone with Bradie James, and he said this kid has the chance to be the greatest of all time.

He is what the defense needs at mlb. The big boys of the schedule are coming up and we'll need to stuff the run and I don't think Welter is ready for that task from what I've seen from him.

Thats what I thought I saw as well. Maybe Beckwith at MLB and move 18 outside with TJ where they both belong.

LB has been a liability but I can see it being the backbone.

Just to point out one of them, check out huge sack ego got. Ego was great and sacked him at the one. If ego would not have gotten pressure however Beckwith would have had a safety. He blew through their TE and rb and was a half step slower to the qb than ego

not a review, but an observation:

dude is playing both DE and MLB. on a consistent basis. I've only known Chavis to do that with one other dude: Leonard Little. and that's when Little was a senior, not a true freshman.

again, our DC, who will play a freshman, but will generally play him at only 1 position (you won't even see guys playing both safety spots, or multiple LB positions), is putting Beckwith at distinct 2 very distinct positions.

take from that what you will.

Didn't notice him too much at MLB. He showed nice range on a sideline run. Whiffed on a run blitz and got trucked on another run.

Don't think he's ready to make an impact at MLB. Provides a lot of value on the line however, and could be moved around in the Mustang once we get around to using it.

That running back had to weigh as much as JC Copeland and he was a 1,300+ yard rusher a year ago. Beckwith did get him out on a one on one and dealt with him.

I agree with this. He'll get 75% of the Bama snaps at MLB.

That dude was a horse! No one wants to take that guy on head first.

Beckwith got knocked over/stumbled about 15 yards down field on a passing play. He met that big rb several times on inside runs and smoked him every time.

That other dude makes it sound like Beckwith was playing MLB on roller skates. Far from it.

What really speaks volumes is that veterans on the team speak of his maturity and ability...let's see how they use him at AU...
