Teams sticking with players that no one else wants

Why do teams do this? There are always guys that start for teams that can't even land on a roster after they finally get cut. What's the deal with this? Why do these teams hang on so long?
Saints - Johnathan Sullivan. Kept him for 3 years. Was so terrible that the Patriots traded for him and then released him 4 months later. No other teams were interested.
Saints - Aaron Brooks. I don't consider the Oakland Raiders a real NFL team. So, them bringing in Brooks doesn't count. He wasn't worth any other team's time. Why did the Saints hang on for so long?
Why can't teams just cut their losses sooner? Why do they hang on to a player they no has almost zero value in the market?

Stupid thread is stupid. You have to pay them either way.

Answer is salary cap reasons and the ego involved in taking/signing said players. Mark Sanchez is the best example of this.

Guaranteed contracts.
not in the nfl
like the previous poster stated, salary cap. but potential is always a reason for hanging on too long.

You're showing your ignorance with your Brooks comment.
