I think your policy has been a failure to this point.

Same message different day from you.

Here's a thought, try to branch out a bit from your various uber right wing taliban websites and actually post something worthy of conversation.

Hell, rex is starting to look mainstream next to you and you should take that as an insult.

Actually if Obama had done nothing about Syria - neither would anyone else have.

Remember the scene in the Godfather when the Godfather tells Sonny, "Never discuss family business outside the family. Don't let them know what your thinking!" (paraphrased)

Obama can't help himself. He shoots off his mouth. He has such an internal need to be accepted by everybody, it overloads his ability to act like a strong leader.

They say to be inscrutable in matters of negotiation, etc.

Sadly you are right, he is such a narcissist, he really cant help himself.

re: The latest international failure of the Obama Presidency.

Barak Obama has mishandled the situation in Syria in a colossal manner that has damaged his reputation internationally and domestically. Unfortunately, it has also damaged the reputation of the United States internationally.

Obama made declarations of what America's interests are in Syria, and the actions the United States would take in furtherance of those interests without bothering to obtain the concurrence of the American people regarding America's interests vis-à-vis Syria. Fortunately, Obama came to the realization that acting without the American people assenting would be unwise, and he sought Congressional approval to support his proposed actions against Syria. The problem is that the inability to convince Congress to approve his plans, and the inability to convince other countries to join in the proposed actions, undercut his position internationally.

He essentially put himself in the position that his personal prestige was at odds with the prestige and interests of the United States, as the majority of Americans perceive those interests. You have to give Vladimir Putin credit for proposing an alternative solution that gives Obama a method of cutting his losses and wiggling out of his desire to act against Syria. The only problem is that it results in diminished prestige for Obama and the United States, and it does not conclusively resolve the situation in Syria that originally incited Obama's imprudent acts.

No doubt about it, but this was a self-inflicted wound to his own reputation. Unfortunately, it has also damaged the prestige of the United States, and the office of the President. There is nothing in Obama's character or personal experience that gives me any confidence he is capable of restoring the prestige of the United States or that of the President of the United States. My only hope is he does no more damage.

However, I'm fearful that in the attempts to restore his personal reputation Obama will seek domestic "successes" that will increase the power of the government and further erode the liberties of the people. And he will be enabled in this task by Democrats for purely partisan purposes.

"just fyi, Obama has STILL done nothing about Syria"

Obama would be in a much better position now if he had done nothing while also saying nothing. Diplomatic pressure could have been ratcheted upward and while UN resolubtions were going to be hard to come by, who would have looked bad on the international stage, us or the Russians for opposing resolutions designed to condemn a dictator who used CW's? The unspoken threat of a forcible reprisal would still remain. Rebels of a more moderate stripe - if any could be found - could be supplied with arms. All of this, though, requires discipline and focus in dealing with situations that lack easy answers or perfect solutions.

In short, I actually favor a foreign policy that is more mindful of the limits of American military power, but this does not mean that we have to be mere isolationists, effectively ceding the world stage to the dictators and the mullahs. While I am glad that we did not intervene unnecessarily - and likely illegally - in Syria, I remain depressed by the shite show that has become our foreign policy. Another reminder, I suppose, that elections have consequences.

Then he should keep his lying, arrogant trap shut about "red lines" in the future.

But...did anyone who did not vote for him really expect any other outcome...from someone who was/is supremely unqualified for the job?

pathetic isn't a strong enough word to describe his failure to this point

That's what you get when you elect America's first Affirmative Action President. Incompetence.

(Has anyone else noted how his own press doesn't talk about "how smart he is" anymore)
