honestly it will never end in Europe but when people like the OP like it, it def waters down the scene in the states. All the songs he listed are not really electronic music, they have been remixed by good electronic dj's but the originals are meh

the scene has been big in the states for years but its just now a trend for the masses b/c its getting airtime of regular radio, they only way you used to be able to listen to it in your car was having siruisxm

But the real fans in the sub cultures that genres have are def starting to separate themselves from this pop electronic shite that people like wil i am puts out

I need to make me another mixed CD, but the new Avicii drops in a few weeks so may wait for a few tracks off of it.

As long as there are some good vocals I'm down, no vocals no thanks.

clearly you don't know what electronic music is, you can't even name the genres, just talking about vocals

saying you happy edm is blowing up and then proping up Avicii and Krewela says that you have the musical taste of a 16 year old girl

Don't be mad bro, the USA likes what the USA likes. Just how it is, don't get mad and upset it's blown up here. Nothing you can do about it, just let it go, let the butthurt flow through you. And yes, I do like pop, quite a bit. I have Taylor Swift, some Kesha, GaGa, etc in my car at the moment.

Personally I love seeing EDM all over the radio and sportscenter/MNF, all over MTV, MTV even has its own Club Land late night show with nothing but EDM.

shite is awesome.

Oh shite just heard the new Zedd with my girl Hayley Williams, that is DOPE. Added to the burn list.

It's already in the iTunes Top 10, along with Avicii's Wake Me Up which has been in the top 5 for months now. That gives Zedd 2 in the Top 20 overall now with Clarity still at #18.

Zedd doin' work.

Oh lord no, EDM would be like 5th on my list of genre', I just like some of the new hits coming out sweeping the US by storm and shooting up the charts.

I really don't care for much else in the genre other than the main few guys currently on the radio producing collab's.

I would put Rock, Pop, and post hardcore ahead of EDM and probably even r&b/rap although as EDM continues to grow and get play time I like it more. We'll see how the trend continues going forward but Zedd is pumping out another chart topping Collab with Paramore's Hayley Williams that just launched here days ago and is already top 15 overall.

American EDM are american radio edits and collabs.

Most of these EDM songs blowing up here are all collabs with american vocalists. Zedd with Hayley Williams, Avicii Wake Me Up features American soul singer Aloe Blacc on the vocals.

Kaskade has his Last Chance which is Top 40, and Aoki who I'm not really a fan of, are both American.

Oh and Krewella obviously.

Kaskade and Aoki has been around for years and both have been big.

Btw there is no "american" edm, what you are talking is pop type songs produced by dj's. They do get remixed by dj's like armin van buuren, Hardwell etc

The vocals for most of those songs are American, and without the vocals they aren't hits here.

That's why I call them American EDM, they may be mixed by Europeans, but the vocals for the songs I mentioned and recent releases in the US, feature vocals from American artists.

Do you even know what genres these songs are lol

the original versions with vocals that you hear on comercial radio are not electronic music

Why? Because you don't consider them that?

I click on iTunes and go to Dance or Electronic category and they're all listed there.

Sorry you don't agree, email Apple?
