I wouldn't say it's an ALL out assault by ESPN on LSU...I was listening this morning when Herbie was on discussing the Gump/Aggie game and he was asked what his take was and he said that he'd reserve his judgement as he's seen similar accusations surface before and everything is pure speculation until more comes out.
