What a classic Saints vs. Falcons rivalry game to the last possession. I was so proud of the defense but here are some things I noticed during the game:

OFFENSE
-Drew and the receivers especially J. Graham seemed to be on the wrong page at times.

-The defense knows we are going to run the ball 75% of the time Ingram is in the game and he needs to get out of the Reggie Bush mentality and run upfield.

-The offensive line was inconsistent early on and it looked like Jahri Evans had one of his worst games as a pro.

-Jason Babineaux absolutely dominated for most of the game. If you go back and watch we went into more dual back motion calls with Collins in the game to assist with blocking Babs due to his big day.

DEFENSE

-Ankle tackles will ultimately kill you on big plays if it continues. It is imperative to stress the correction of ankle tackles.

-The defense gave up 3-4 big plays that let the Falcons into Saints territory and thats when the defense gave up points. It was great to see that when they started with average to bad field position the defense played really well.

-I thought Rob Ryan and the defense made some great half time adjustments. You saw Kenny V. around the line a lot in the first half and in the second half he was in deeper coverage more while trusting the D line to get pressure which they did.

-Juneyah looked really fast and healthy and I was really excited to see it. It seemed like every time but maybe once that the Falcons tried to run a screen it didnt develop properly due to the speed of the defense.

SPECIAL TEAMS

-Way too many penalties, if not for the penalty right before the half Payton and Brees could have been way more aggressive and try to get a FG.

OVERALL
Great win and a great day for the defense. Malcolm Jenkins needs to go he is a liability. Darren Sproles and Cam Jordan get both of my MVP votes for the game. WHO DAT!

I really think Vaccaro will replace this dude full time after this season.

He's just the fast guy that complements Harper now.

Agree with this. Ingram would benefit more from staying in for a whole series instead of rotating out. If Payton isn't comfortable doing that then the Ingram experiment needs to end.

Ingram sucks.
Our O-line run blocking sucks.
Malcom Jenkens is lost at FS.
Vaccarro and Stills will dominate this season.
Our Defense is much improved.

Payton keeps trying to use Ingram in ways that aren't working.
I don't get it.
Things aren't gonna get better.
Square peg, round hole and such.

Where's Robinson?

Stars:

Dline. Cam. J Jenkins, Hicks, Galette, and the new guy, Parys. Lots of pressure with just a 4 man rush.

Stills. 2 for 86. Colston. Saints record breaker.

Punt coverage. 2 returns for 21 yards. Morstead gets credit too

I think White deserves some praise.
Lewis goes out hurt, and White comes in and totally shows him up.

You guys were WAYYY too hard on him in the preseason.

Hicks was a monster today. He was absolutely destroying their interior.

Defense- up vote

Offense- up vote but the running game is too predictable. Also noticed confusion between the Rcvrs and Drew on several plays. Odd because that's usually the surest thing we have.

Overall a great game. Enjoyed the hell out of it and look forward to a great season after these little things get straitened out

Been pounding this drum. Hope we found a way to keep Harper next year since we don't really have money to replace him. Send Jenkins packing.

I'll be the first to admit that. He has potential but damn did he look bad against the miami backups.

Glad he played much better today.

Other notes:
O-Line needs to get their shite together when run blocking. Just like last season started, way too much penetration before the play starts to develop.

Sproles is back to being used properly.

Graham is a beast. Oh and that Colston guy ain't too bad.

Pass blocking was hit and miss, but I think they gave up too many free rushers on the outside and Evans seemed to struggle at times.

Sucks to see Bunkley and Walker go down. They definitely have talent and can be huge assets. Good thing we had depth 2 deep.

The 3 OLB thing was way overblown. I'm thinking now we don't bring anyone in.

Run D was real solid outside of that one cutback run. We can't over pursue like that.

Pass D was hit and miss but playing against the Falcons with so many weapons like we have is a hard task.

Like last year, it seems we get a penalty on every damn return and we still can't open lanes.

Props to Hartley. Good kicks and has been looking solid all preseason.

Nope, and one of the 3 was inactive.

Has Hartley missed at all through 4 preseason games and 1 regular season game?

Dude is looking great.
I'm finally over cutting the Freshmaker.

I want to say he missed a 50 yarder in preseason but it wasn't a terrible hook miss like he used to do. It faded wide right. Had it been a 40 yarder it would have been good.

Brees under threw too many receivers. Line-backers sucked in covering RB's. Wide Open. Defense stood when it should, first time ever.
Drew will recognize, lb will improve, secondary will be more assertive = We will be in play-offs! Great game! Who Dat!!

Ingram is a failed experiment. Time to admit he's a bust.
