UAB Head Coach Garrick McGee

"there was a stretch in that game in the second quarter where we played pretty good football against one of the top programs in the country."

"For our defense to limit the run game like they did out there today and for our offense to run the ball against an opponent of that caliber, it says that we are able to play physical football against Conference USA teams.”

PK Ty Long

“In the second quarter, we actually took over the game. I know every LSU fan out there would say that isn’t true. "

RB Jordan Howard

"At one point we were dominating them. We just hope to erase all the mental mistakes and do what we need to do. "

LB Jake Ganus

“We showed against a physical football team that we did a good job on stopping the run."

“We had a heavier personnel stopping the run. Their lineup of running backs teamed up, but I thought we did a good job stopping the run. This helped us make more defensive plays in the backfield, and I think we did a better job in the second half of stopping those big plays. “

When you get beat by 39 it's really required that you find something to be positive about

Not a problem from my view

there wasn't much need to run when you're shredding the defense with crisp passing.

What was LSU's yard per carry avg.?

they sold out, loaded the box, and slowed the running game. In turn, LSU opened their passing game up and pistol-whipped them.

Thing is, you must stop BOTH facets....that's the rub.

On the realities of the game, when LSU went up 28-0 in the 2nd, the D was noticeably complacent. Sure they put together a couple of nice drives, but they need to be true to themselves.

That's really shutting down the run.

Yeah, I know.

If this was last year, after we go up 28-0 we would have just started pounding the ball. We could have easily had 250 yards rushing if we wanted to commit to running.

It seemed like this was a game that really showed our offensive attitude shift. We'll keep attacking even when the game is out of hand.

No, He's pretty spot on. We looked like we just gave up at the end of the second qtr.

This would be like me walking up to the smoking hot women at the Most Interesting Man in the World's table and thinking I was running mad game while he was in the restroom.

LSU played man up basic defense not really committed to stopping their run and over pursuing several plays allowing their RBs to get around the corners...

A lot of young players on defense that will learn and adjust and they did in the 2nd half...
