Better Artist: Jerry Lee Lewis or Fats Domino

Two Louisiana piano players considered founding fathers for modern day music. Fats has influenced many artists including The Beatles. JLL is one of a few artists to have huge careers in two different music types (rock/country). Fats is in the Rock n Roll HOF, JLL is in the rock n roll and rockabilly HOF.

Fats was a better singer so I'm going with him

There's no right or wrong answer, but For my money JLL is the total package. The ability to sing, entertain, live a crazy life and still out live nearly everyone from the Golden Era of music.
Pretty cool that both were inducted in the inaugural class of the Rock n Roll HOF. It says a lot about their influence on modern music.

Younguns, clearly you have not learned your music history. The fat man wins this by a freaking New Orleans, I'm drowning my arse off, lower 9th Ward mile. The fat man not only could write and play, but he could sing. Hate on haters - hail to da fatman.

Fats, although for a moment in time Jerry Lee Lewis was the hardest rockin' man in the world.

I love them both. The idea of choosing one as "better" is nonsensical to me. Both are giants in rock n roll history.

Killer except in marrying ability

Married his teenage cousin... winning. Still performing... winning. Able to perform while drunk/stoned out of his mind... winning. Cousin to Jimmy Lee... end of discussion.

And gets arrested at the gates of Graceland with a loaded .38 and drunk off his arse

I'm substantially more partial to Fats. Just for fun:
When the Beatles came to N.O., the person they wanted to meet ... and did meet, was FD (in a special trailer just for the fat man) outside City Park Stadium.
When Elvis Presley made his comeback in Vegas, the person he sought out for advice on how to play Vegas was Fats Domino.
And no, my name Fat Man does not come from an affinity for Fats Domino.

I saw them both perform live and I would agree with this.

I'll go with JLL. I loved his showmanship on stage, legendary lifestyle, and IMO has a better voice.

That's a tough one - really close because of their similarities - however, Jerry Lee maybe wins by a nose, almost solely on the strength of his playing and the electricity of his live performances.
Fats is probably more influential, (with Jerry Lee being, effectively, a composite of Fats and Little Richard, style-wise), and recorded one of the songs argued to the the first rock and roll record, the eponymous "The Fat Man".
