Decided to clean up around the edges of my pond on a beautiful Friday afternoon and was out swinging a ditch blade. I looked up across the pond and my 4 year old was coming over to help. I told him to come on over and as I did a giant bolt of lightning came out of nowhere and hit a tree ~50 yards behind me. It was crazy, blue skies and a couple of fluffy white clouds, then BOOM! He freaked out and froze; I freaked out seeing him freaked out before realizing I had a ditch blade in my hand. We headed for the porch at Usain Bolt speed (well, I'm a fatass, so it was probably more like a the speed of a mall-walker and the grace of a penguin.) Spent 10 minutes out on the porch afterward and did not see another strike. I've heard of these stories but never experienced it myself and it was as scared as I've ever been.

It took me about 5 minutes to stop shaking and another 5 to catch my breath.

I guess it's drinkin time!

Was that from the 20 yard jog or the lightning scaring you?

Have you done anything lately that would piss off God?

Glad you and your son are okay.

I love lightning when I can watch it in the distance. Heat lightning is my favorite

Having lightning strike close by is one of the most underrated things out there. Will freak you out for a while.

I have developed an irrational fear of lightning. Had a bolt strike about 20 yards away from me one day. Not a good feeling. My balls got all ticklish.

Being close enough to a bolt of lightening to hear that sizzle noise and ring your ears is not something I care to experience often.

I have a good friend whose house was struck and burned to the ground here in San Antonio. Guy liked the house and the land so he rebuilt the exact same house on the old foundation and a year later it got struck again and burned his garage down. Most unlucky guy I've ever seen.

Be on a sailboat with a big arse aluminum mast in the middle of a big arse body of water and listen to it crackle and pop as you move across where the lightning is going to hit and get back to me about fear.
That shite will do things to your masculinity you didn't realize were possible. Sounds like a swarm of bees.
