I usually buy Wincester, but this new brand Rio is all they've got at Academy (Laffy) by the case.

2 3/4 inch #8 is what I bought.

Anything good or bad about this brand?

Thanks.

I bought a box of #8 yesterday just to see what they were all about.

I also bought 6 boxes of .410. I don't really want to talk about that.

They drive around with no insurance and sell 8 balls of baby powder.

Thanks wick.

They work just fine.

I may invest in .410 shells. They've seemed to inflate more than gold :inb4moneyboard:

I decided if I was paying that much for shells for my daughter I might as well shoot them too.

Yes, I'll be the grown man shooting a single shot .410 tomorrow. It's fun. A few years ago I did it on a bet. The bet was I couldn't kill a limit (15) with a box of .410 shells. It took me a while, picking and choosing my shots carefully, but I did it in 21 shots.

I have a sxs .410 and it pisses me off that I can't afford to bring it on a full blown dove blast

I brought my 40+ year old Remington 1100 to the gunsmith at Hebert's Guns today. It would not cycle (feed). It acted as a single shot (one & done). He brought it into the back area and after a few seconds I could heard bang, bang, bang. He comes out and says "Are you using the cheap Wa*m*** shells"? I was and he told me he thought so, and handed 3 spent black Rio shells "nothing wrong with your gun I recommend Rio for birds and skeet for most automatic shot guns". The cheap Winchester shells would not work in my gun. Had to do with the brass vs steel tops. I bought a couple of boxes and plan to try them out on some doves soon. Cost about $7.50/box. We'll see.

Good to know. We'll see how it goes shooting the Rio's. Paid 5.49 per box. 54.90 for the case.

Never had issues with Wincester shells.

The gun however, a Wincester SX3, required a break-in period of about 75 rounds for the ejection mechanism to successfully eject on a consistent basis. Trouble free ever since. It's a great gun.
