LSU extends Paul Mainieri's contract one year through 2018

Don't know how necessary this move is. Extending him another year to 5 years down the road is a little far IMO. It's not like he's going anywhere.
They should probably look into extending Alan Dunn, amirite?

I don't see the reason for this. He was already 4 years out, why does he want/need another year now? The timing seems odd for just an extra year.

They often roll a coaches contract back a year as a reward for a good year.

its not like mainieri has been doing a bad job so why wouldn't they extend him? i dont know the specifics for Dunn's contract but hopefully LSU can lock him up as well.
