I remember it, they hung it from a crane outside of the southeast end zone. It was difficult to make anything out from our seats in the north end zone. I was very young at the time, had to have been some time in the early 80's.

Yep. They hung it over the southeast corner.

It was my first LSU game, 1982, I think. Alan Pinkett, Steve Beurline and Notre Dame came in. I was in the north end zone too!

They may have done it for the Ohio St. game, too. I wasn't there.

It was cool, I remember that.

I couldn't even give a guess how big it was.

Anybody have pic of that? You'd be a random mo fo.

It was my freshman year (Fall 1984, but may have also been done at other times) and I remember seeing it up close during the week. It had colored lightbulbs in it, thousands of them.

Notre Dame game, 1984. LSU was a big favorite, game on ABC and Notre Dame "woke up the echoes". They won 30-22,but it was worse than that as we scored on some wild hail mary on the next to last play of the game or something and made the two point conversion.

Gerry Faust made SI's cover after the game:

I've never heard of this.

They literally hung a temporary video board from a crane in the south end zone? Or are y'all just bsing. Sounds crazy to me.
