don't want to spend more than 100 or so on a smoker and i'm wondering if its worth it.
ive found several online in this price range but wanted to get some FDB recommendations. if money was no object i would probably buy a BGE but sadly that is not the case.
would be mainly used for chicken and ribs.

Look on craigslist and get a Weber Smokey Mountain, and don't look back. There was one here in Houston area for $100 yesterday, and had only been used 3 times.

Do this... Even if you have to spend $150, do it. It will not only be a great starter, but you'll use it forever.

You can go to home depot or academy and get a nice side fire box smoker for in the $100-$150 range. Its much more versatile than the wsm imo.

WSM if you can afford it. Brinkmann Gourmet charcoal if you can't.

thanks for the responses but right now WSM is a little over budget for me.
craiglist is a good idea if i lived in a major metro area, but i do not.

Go to Lowe's...get a char-griller...the non-baller smoker...have had mine for 10 years and keeps temp great with very little adjustments.
