you have ever witnessed in person in Death Valley?

For me, it was the 1982 Florida State game in my soph year.
The anticipation and atmosphere was unbelievable going into that game when it was announced earlier in the week that the winner would go to the Orange Bowl, what would be LSU's first NYD bowl in 10 years.

An LSU student dressed up like a 'Seminole' ran around the NEZ until the costumed Mike tackled him and broke his spear. The student section went insane.

When the first note of Pre-game was played, I literally went deaf for a few minutes. The same with the game. Martin caught 2 TD passes, one a slant in for a 28 yard TD on the last play of the first half, and DV was rocking.

Other loud crazy LSU Pregames I have seen/heard in person:

1995 Auburn
1997 Florida
2000 Tennessee
2001 Auburn
2003 Georgia
2003 Auburn
2004 Oklahoma
2007 Florida
2008 Bama
2009 Florida
2011 Arkansas
2012 Bama

If I am confining myself solely to PRE-GAME and the FOUR CORNER SALUTE, I would say that 2009 Florida was the loudest by a fairly comfortable margin.

It was insane before that FL game. Too bad JJ and the offense didn't get the memo.

Florida was stomping on the eye before pregame for the '09 game and the crowd and team went nuts. That pregame atmosphere was by far the most electric I have been a part of.

Florida 2009. If only the game lived up to it.

Was in band for Arkansas 2011, that was also pretty loud.

My favorite while marching it is actually the Saints/Lions playoff game. That was the loudest I've heard it.

Literally my first memory at an LSU game. I was a youngster, but I definitely remember Mike scalping the Seminole. I asked my dad why the Florida State mascot would let Mike do that, and he had to explain to me that it was probably an LSU student that dressed up like a Seminole and it was not the real Florida St mascot.

My dad wouldn't let me throw any oranges.

When Brandon Lafell led the Tigers out to midfield to confront the Gators, the place went nuts. The entire stadium got jacked up 25 minutes before gametime. It couldn't have been timed any better with the music and the ending of "Calling Baton Rouge".

1:44 mark

Watch the one Florida player that hangs out near their sideline and stays out of the stand off...Timmy Tebow.

We brought oranges. We thought we were going to be real original with that. Until the first first down of the game, and down come the oranges.

I was a soph in high school, living in La Place. Didn't even tell my parents I was going to the game. Just said I was going out. Headed off to BR, got some tix outside.

The 1982 Florida State game was insane.

At the end, the oranges were coming down like hail. I think there's video of it on Youtube, it was probably the biggest victory we'd had in several years.

The energy going into the Bama game last year was pretty incredible. That made the pregame pretty special as well. Florida 07 was also the first time Mike VI rode around the field so that was pretty special as well. Those are two that I remember the most.

That FSU game was the craziest pregame. LSU refused to move the game to daytime for TV. When Mike fought and scalped the Indian in the middle of the field, the crowd went crazy. Then there was the oranges. Both offenses were running wide open with reverses and long passes. LSU got ahead and a thick fog rolled over the field. That was the first time that I had seen the field rushed. The cops pulled back and defended the goalposts and beat the crap out of people who tried to get on them. Crazy game all around.

As far as games I've been to, 2009 Florida was nuts, and a clear #1 for me (FSU was before my time.)

Another good one that stuck out to me that wasn't mentioned here was 2007 Virginia Tech. The home opener, top 10 match-up, with us being #2. It was an electric atmosphere and the game was an absolute thrashing.

ETA 2004 Oregon State was entertaining with the downpour and streakers. Watched that one from the East Uppers in the middle of the visitors section.

Ole Miss--1972. On the field and couldn't hear myself play pregame. In the tunnel for the team to run through, the earth shook as well as the stadium. And capacity then was "only" 68,000....
