HUH?????
News to me. I hope this means Rothfuss has figured the god damn ending out and that he will actually be able to wrap it all up in one book...
ETA: At first I read your post to mean that Fox had already picked it up. Glad they haven't. Hopefully it will be picked up by Showtime or Netflix or HBO. Something that will put in enough money to do it well. It, like American Gods, still has to actually be successfully optioned to a network, then scripted and cast, then shot. It will be a long way off if it ever comes to fruition, but it would be cool to see come to life. Rothfuss must be dancing right now.

The third book in the trilogy, The Doors of Stone (working title), is expected to be out some time next year.

It will be very interesting if they try to "Ramp it up" for TV, as it is rather meandering, and not a lot happens by conventional standards. The frame story is essential to the plot, and a lot of the first book is "Young Kvothe".

This might inspire me to pick up the second book. I put it down after the millionth poor college student reference.

Yeah, I guess I was reading too much into the naming of the production team. Fox makes me nervous as well, mostly because of the mishandling of Firefly. But those problems were mostly in marketing and scheduling. The actual show was very well done.

yeah they are just producing it.
So it could air anywhere. Let's hope its AMC or FX or HBO and not...the CW or something.

I'm interested in seeing how this comes out. Read the books earlier this year off a recommendation on this board and looking forward to the 3rd whenever it comes too.

It is amazing how Rothfuss has gotten his readers to like Kvothe despite the fact that he is good at literally everything. Even fricking. That, and he's obviously not shy about talking about how great he is either. He's the kind of guy I want to punch in the mouth in real life, but in the books, I just want to be his friend.

Kvothe's ridiculously over the top Mary Sue qualities knock the series down quite a bit for me, it's just silly as hell. Particularly the sex part you are mentioning. It's still a solid series, but yeah, it's pretty silly at times, and repetitive.
It would be interesting to see the show done on HBO or Showtime though.
Of course the series that really needs a HBO o Showtime treatment is The Dresden Files, those would be the bomb on cable with a decent budget.

It is a little repetitive. But it's clear Kvothe is unreliable as a narrator so it's difficult to really determine what's true and what's not. I almost put the Wise Man's Fear down for a while during the whole nymph escapade, but soldiered through and got past it.

This is really the best part of the books and the most outstanding feature for me.
