NHL 14 Thread

So the early release for EA Season ticket holders comes out tomorrow.
I have been playing the demo for about a week or so, and while they have some minor annoyances (same cheese goals as last year), they have improved the skating and the fighting. Fighting now is freaking awesome! I just hope that they don't have as many fights in the retail version as they do in the demo. I did love how if you laid out a superstar, someone would skate up to you and the gloves would immediately drop.
Anyone other than myself picking it up? (waits for the "you're in the south, nobody watches/plays hockey" comments
)

Never played a hockey game before 13' and I am loving it. I will say that I only play with friends, which is extremely fun. I get a lot less enjoyment out of it playing by myself.
2v2 with 3 other friends on the same console is awesome.
I'll most likely be getting 14'

They have a mode called EASHL where you create a player and then take that player online and team up with as many as 5 other created guys, and face off against another 6. They have drop in games where you just get paired with randoms, or you can play in the actual EASHL where someone creates a club and then you go face other clubs trying to make it to the playoffs and win the cup. if you win enough games and get enough points, you progress up the rank ladder and move into harder tournaments. It's fun as hell and has been a huge selling point for the NHL series for a while.

Man, I use to play hockey every day for hours when it was on PC, but ever since it went console exclusive, I haven't played as much. I had a couple friends who loved to play, and I would kick the shite out of them, and they just quit playing me. I haven't played in about 3yrs. If I had time, I would pick it up, but I haven't turned my console on since my return to the master race.

That mode is an absolute joke. I can't even believe that it's being touted as a game mode. From what I saw in the demo, it was current rosters, just with the blue ice, the player numbers, the sounds, controls and celebrations. That's it. Player models are this year.

I get it every year (top 20 online versus play ps3).
Love the refinements to the skating engine, so much smoother and faster. Passing is much faster too, they really sped the game up which is great.
One Timers score goals more often now which is great too. No super human goalies near as much.

Gonna download the demo. Might pull the trigger on this, have heard nothing but great things about this franchise.

It really is a great game, but yes if you are even thinking of buying the game you should absolutely download the demo first. The skating is going to be incredibly hard for newcomers because of the physics behind it all, but the reward is great when you can use your momentum and level a guy.

They are actually using the FIFA engine for the skating and they are using the Fight Night technology for the fights

Just checked the EA Sports Central App on my PS3 and it said 3 hours and 22 minutes from now.. So my best guess is roughly 1 PM Eastern time.
