The post about his comment on our fullbacks being some of the most impressive he's ever been around made me think how much comments like that will mean to scouts and GMs around the NFL.

Cam coached perhaps the best fullback in NFL history in Lorenzo Neal for years in San Diego and Baltimore, as well as Pro Bowlers in Laron Mcclain and Vonta Leach.

Hearing praise like that from Cameron will immediately put our guys at the top of NFL radars.

Imagine the impact when Cam starts singing praises of our running backs after coaching and developing future Hall of Famers Ladanian Tomlinson and Ray Rice right out of college.

When he raves about Mettenberger's arm strength, decision making, and leadership, scouts will trust him knowing he mentored and developed rookies Drew Brees, Philip Rivers and Joe Flacco into Pro Bowlers and future Super Bowl MVPs.

Offensive lineman will shoot up draft boards when he praises them having coached great pros like Jonathan Ogden, Matt Birk, Marcus McNeil, Bryant McKinnie Jared Gaither, and Michael Oher.

Even defensive players will benefit when he talks about practicing against our guys having worked on a daily basis against legends like Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Terrell Suggs, Haloti Ngata, Junior Seau, and Shawn Merriman.

There really is no overstating how much Cam's experience and reputation will help future Tigers in making a name for themselves in NFL Draft Rooms.

Not only did Miles bring in a phenomenal coach and teacher, but one of the best references for an NFL resume that any college program in the country can offer.

I have no doubt that will be one of the biggest benefits of bringing Cam Cameron to Baton Rouge, as young prospects from all over the country begin to realize the impact Cam will have on their draft status.

My takeaway is that we could beat the Ravens.

I don't know how much effect coachs or what school a player attends have on where he is drafted. Scouts these days will overturn every stone to find players, they are evaluated inside and out, then run through the mill, analyzed and projected then drafted. Doesn't matter if they go to a tiny school or a big time program.

Its a recruiting tool... its something that could tip the scales in a schools favor if an athlete can't decide between a couple of schools and it will benefit him economically.

Of course this assumes everything is above board in the recruiting process and nothing shady going on...

Seriously? Because they play for LSU...why wouldn't we want players to get drafted as high as possible and have good careers in the NFL?

None of this means crap if we don't win. In the end, the crystal is all that matters.

This is the point of the OP.

I think some of you are mistaking my excitement for the value that Cam will bring in the long run as a recruiter for him being some miracle worker that will take LSU to five straight titles efore ascending to the Pro and College Football Hall of Fame.

I'm a realist through and through. All you have to do is look at my posts the past couple of days. I've been specifically downplaying Cam's role in the improved production we saw Saturday night.

He didn't come in and reinvent the wheel. His impact was on a much more basic level of helping develop and maximize the potential we already saw in players last year.

And I'm not claiming "OMFG Mett will be #1 pick and we'll have 9 first rounders cause Cam is a genius!!!"

My entire premise is simply to highlight the weight that his evaluations will be given on NFL Draft boards when coming from a coach who has succeeded at the NFL level for the past decade. Not unlike Saban's influence on getting defensive players drafted highly because of his perceived NFL level coaching and influence that his players benefit from.

Of course the players will not benefit if the scouts don't find that the film matches what Cam is saying, but they will absolutely take notice of any player a proven NFL coach praises after working with them every day in practice.

Think about it. Cam not only coached, but was on the offensive staff that evaluated and drafted, Drew Brees, Ladanian Tomlinson, Antonio Gates, Philip Rivers, Vincent Jackson, Marcus McNeil, Ray Rice, Joe Flacco, Michael Oher, Torrey Smith, and Dennis Pitta.

Cam's recommendation to deserving players will give them an immediate advantage in the evaluation process because they will already have an NFL proven talent evaluator as a recommendation.

That should be clear to anyone who has ever been part of an interview/personnel evaluation committee.

I am thrilled that our current and future Tigers will have such an advocate when they prepare to make the next step in their careers.

We've played one game against a middle-tier BIG12 school and this place is acting like we beat '72 Dolphins.

I'd love to know what about my posts you guys find so irrational and eye roll worthy.

Beam and 8, are you saying Cam won't have a positive impact on players' draft statuses going forward?

Correct. NFL Scouts put as much stock in what Greg Studrawa says about his players as Cam Cameron will.

Nick Saban has never used his influence to talk up players to scouts or GMs.

In fact, I doubt scouts or GMs even talk to college coaches about their players at all! Thanks for setting me straight fellas!

A coach is never going to talk his player up from 3rd round to 1st. He can however talk to a GM and get his guy picked as a flyer in the 5th-7th rounds as opposed to being UDFA. Or get him to be signed as an UDFA as opposed to selling insurance.

I sorta see the OP's point (I think):

Saban gets guys who love Bama, and guys who want "coached by Nick Saban" on their resume come draft day.

Right now, LSU gets guys who love LSU, and guys who want "I played defense at LSU/for Chavis" on their resume.
Cameron can bring in guys who want "coached on offense by Cam Cameron" on their resume; and that should only help national recruiting (and lead to better players, and thus more highly drafted players).

I guess, basically, would you rather draft a QB developed by Cameron in college, or by Doug Nussmeier (for example), if they are otherwise equal? If Magee has an ok season, and Cameron says he could be a 3rd down back for any team in the league, does that give him a boost?
