Name a few bands you hate or havent given a chance because of their name.

My Bloody Valentine- always hear great things but the name really bugs me. Sounds like one of those shitty "alt" bands like my chemical romance or blood on the dance floor

Blind Faith- great band, love Clapton but cant get over the name

Vampire Weekend - I have no idea what they sound like, but know some people who like them, mostly chics. Anything vampire these days is lame in my book.

you do realize that MBV has been around since the members of those other bands you mentioned were in diapers, right?

They're both really good so you can't go wrong listening to either or both.

Band of Horses is one of my favorite bands, actually.

I thought that at first, but they have nothing to do with vampires at all. If anything, they're preppy as hell.

I dont listen to bands all the time based on name... It's typically been a pretty good filter for me... but sometimes a miss

I held off on Titus Andronicus for a long time because I hated the name... Now, they are one of my favorite current bands...

I didnt make that mistake with Diarrhea Planet... Still, most people look at me like Im crazy when I say their name..

Correct me if I'm wrong but the head guy from vampire weekend was a teacher prior to their Oxford Comma success. His class named the band or something along those lines.

I've never not listened to a band because of the name. That includes the band Raping the Souls of the Decapitated.

He (Ezra Koenig) was a teacher, but the name comes from a video project he did in college about a guy warning the mayor of Cape Cod that vampires are attacking or something. It was abandoned after 2 days, but the name never went away, apparently.

Gayest (not that there's anything wrong with that) band name in recent memory but I have to admit, I liked what I've heard.

I don't know if I would have tried Arctic Monkeys before, either. They don't even really have an actual origin for their name; one of them just wanted to be in a band called that.

Of course, they're damn good and I'm excited for AM.

When they first came out, I waited a long time to listen to Pearl Jam, mainly because I hate jam bands.

And while they are one of my all time favorite bands, Archers of Loaf is a really stupid name.
