Seriously? What's the master race doing? One of the best games of the year for PC is out now and no thread on it? Damn shame.
Anyways, anyone try it yet?

Strategy games are not high on the priority list for most PC gamers here (imo). Only see a thread about the big releases

Good and bad reviews, some people are having optimization issues but I personally haven't tried it yet. Plan on buying it soon though.

been looking forward to that game, so much excitement

Can't post.
playing.
I like it.
I'm still sorting it out though.
I have had no problems running it on my machine.
The battles are too quick for my taste, but so far I like they direction the overall game has gone.

Is it just like the original Total War that I played about 10 years ago? I loved managing my empire and expanding but hated the battles so always skipped those. Does it still let you skip the battles?

Been playing rome for 12 hours...and I am loving every moment of it.

Really? The one review I read was so bad I am holding off.

Same here, looks like they had to release a patch because the majority of players were having issues.

still looks really good. I will certainly get it after EUIV and GTAV run their course
Rome is probably my third favorite history era (with Total War: Shogun covering my second favorite-now if only they could make a Three Kingdoms China: Total War)

shrug.
I am having fun. I keep staying up too late to play the damn thing. And I have had no problems playing it on my two-year old machine.
People bitch, that's what they do about games.
I like a lot of new details they have added and am really enjoying the setting. My only complaint remains the same as before, that the battles blast by too quickly, but I have even gotten use to that. Im now 111 turns into my first game as Rome. The sheer scope is amazing. This one will have a home on my hard drive for a long time.

Maybe the way you play. Some have said diplomacy is almost impossible because there are so many factions on the MASSIVE world.
Other complaints are that they strategy has almost been removed from fights and now it is just pure chaos.
Also because of the massive world size, the game becomes nothing more than make a move wait a half hour for the computer to make all of its moves.
I'm just stating what the guy on Ars Technica said. He also feels this is a total game design problem which can't be fixed with a patch.
Eventually I will probably still pick it up because I loved the original.

Maybe. I like all of the factions, makes my sword diplomacy more fun.

See I'm not seeing that. Sure you can send your mass of troops into their mass of troops, but I have found by using tactics my troops are more effective (flanking, etc).

Again, not an issue for me, though as the world opens up I do bounce out of the game to read forums ;-). But that is my play style anyway.

Yeah I read that review, that guy hated the game. I have read other reviews where people love the game so your miles might vary.

I hated Rome 1. Just could never get immersed in it. To me this is worlds better. I have owned every TW game they have ever made. MW 1 is still probably the best but this is certainly in the top 3. (Then again what the hell do I know I actually liked Empire because of the scope and setting (admittedly it played like a dog at times) ).
