Run Defense
Although we held TCU to 114 yards rushing, it was on 26 carries. This was against a team LSU was bigger stronger and faster than. I'm slightly worried, but I think it's just because of the monster pass rush the whole game.

Pass Defense
This area was fairly solid. Jalen Mills plus the best safety tandem is what you would expect. Don't forget, this was also a Big 12 team so you know how that conference likes to flick the magic bean. Their QB's didn't look too comfortable in the pocket, which is why I feel they made the change, so Boykin could use his legs to escape and help keep LSU honest. I think as the season goes on LSU will have a much better secondary than last season, and an overall better linebacker core. Call me crazy, but this front 7 and DB unit could be nasty. Real Nasty

Offense
I think we can all be pleased with this outcome. Aside from running on the strong side of the line not working for a lot of plays, I am pleased with the balance. Mett has matured and grown in the new system, and i think we can all be excited. If their DB's weren't holding onto Travin and other receiving targets, we could have threw it all over them. You could tell that TCU was wearing down when our drives started just clicking together. But the question is, can we do this in the SEC against similar athletes and competition? We out manned and gunned TCU.

Spread Set
As much as I oppose the spread, LSU has one nasty spread set. With Beckham, Landry, Travin, Wright, Boone, Leslie, talented Tight Ends and Magee and Hill, I wouldn't be surprised if LSU get's int this formation more than 10 snaps a game or so.

I feel after what we have seen, and I watched all the SEC games. LSU is the best team in the conference right now. I understand it's the first week and we haven't seen half of what anybody is going to do, but I'll be damned if it wasn't beautiful.

The only thing I am not really happy with is how much Landry and Beckham were targeted. I think Mett needs to spread the ball out to more receivers if we're going to have success against defenses in our conferences. But hey if they're open they're open and throw it their way.

I wouldn't be worried at all.

about 30 of those yards were from QB running.. That is always hard for a D to cover.

I won't even speculate on LSU offense or defense this year with 2 of the best coordinators in the country running the show. Just gonna sit back and behold a thing of beauty. LSU's first game was SOLID.
