We seem to have no speed on our kick off team. In the past we had one of speed guys to play back in case of a break away. would love to see brazil in there.Seems like shepard played that spot.

Routing this straight to the "fans say the damnedest things" thread.

White was the last line of defense on that big kickoff, took a bad angle though. He's pretty fast. Also noticed Jalen Collins down there along with Eugene and Martin. That's our second and third corners and starting FS

Somebody should call les miles. You mean to imply that with all the speed lsu has on the team. Which it has plenty, they neglected to put any of it on the field of kickoffs.
How could les miles let that happen he should know better.
(Op, think about how stupid your post is. really, its first game and the kickoff team made a mistake. I guess tcu didn't have any of their speed guys on their kickoff team when obj had the long return.)

Incorrect. What we did lack on Saturday is a guy like Mathieu, Claiborne, Peterson or Russell Shepard that could run down just about anyone if the coverage team got out of their lanes (which they did on the TCU return). Some of the young new DBs will fill this need in time.

The big return was because a guy blocked our guy 46 in the back causing a huge hole. They tried the same thing in the third quarter but missed the block.

Speed does little on kick coverage if you run past the return man as LSU seems to do on too many occasions. There needs to be a transition from the full speed sprint down the field in a controlled manner to allow the defenders to limit the returner's options on where to go and bring him down or force him out of bounds. This can be fixed with the proper coaching and team discipline.
