A bet board would have:

Long-term threads by most members updating their plays/record.

Stickied threads at the top to discuss weekly plays (i.e. this weeks CFB thread).

Individual threads discussing single topics.

Sounds like enough content to sustain a thriving board. Unless Chicken hates free money from advertisers, a gambling board seems like a no brainer.

I most definitely support a Gambling Board.

Just with the basics (NFL, CFB, CBB, NBA, MLB, Horse Racing and Tennis) it would have a ton of traffic.

Could it possibly be tied in with the fantasy sports board. I could see those two things coexisting well together.

I kinda disagree with this. Fantasy is a whole other monster IMO

I see what you're saying but one board could easily handle both topics and it might not sound as much like fringe adult material as a pure gambling board.

I mean I believe that they Fantasy board holds its own (I dont post there so not defending it) and I think a bet board could well hold its own. shite besides the rant and OT would be the highest trafficked board IMO.

thats like me saying I think we should just combine the Poli and the money Board because well screw it

Since I have been asked to weigh in on this thread.

Betting is a good discussion during football and basketball seasons. After that it would be a very slow time for the board.

Having a new board would dilute the the current MSB.

Can we get sticky for the main thread each week, i.e. CFB Bet Thread, NFL Bet Thread, Survivor?

not arguing just pointing out that a lot of people bet on Baseball and Hockey.

And if you think about it Football and Basketball take up pretty much the entire you minus like 2 months maybe.

Why do you think it would dilute the MSB? I would still post a lot on the MSB but could actually get out of 1 monster thread to discuss games?

thanks for your input

Then why anchor the main thread?

Not to mention a gambling board encompasses a lot more than just sports betting. There should be board sub-sets and a gambling board should be a sub-set of the MSB.

Oh and gambling sites pay huge money for website adverts. That's probably the biggest reason to have a gambling board. But I guess TD is in a position to turn down more members + advert money.

eta: A gambling board would have more posters than the soccer board, music board, and the fantasy board.

He's probably working on it as we speak and just taking his time to iron out the details.

The issue is still being researched but the weekly thread started out like an IM thread.

There was not content to the thread.

That's how the thread always starts. People post stuff like that to reserve their spots on the first page for their picks

And nice PM

So.. just like the entire OT?

Tiger Fred: The Weekly Golf Thread is pretty much an IM thread as well.

What goes into anchoring one over the other? If an Admin approves of one, and not the other? If it's based on thread content like you stated above, then it should be an across the board rule, and not one that is selective; especially if the thread doesn't break any other rules.

What does the OT have to do with this discussion?
