Who else was impressed by Poppa? He seemed like he was on a mission all night to knock guys out. He is an intimidating presence with good reason.
Really liked what I saw from him.

Your thoughts?

He still takes bad angles and goes for the knockout blow instead of trying to play sound football. He would have had a pick-6 if he had looked up instead of deciding to hit the guy.

Which will get him ejected at least once this season.

Honestly, thought he played out of position on multiple occasions.

I only noticed the missed tackles..especially the one where the guy was an inch from going out of bounds but still somehow broke the tackle and scored..

He had a solid perfectly timed lick on a receiver to break up a 3rd down conversion.

Around the ball, didn't make any huge mistakes. Thought he played well but if he actually played with his head up looking for the ball, could have had two INTs yesterday.

That was a big play at the right time.

Could have taken one to the house if his head was watching the football instead of trying to lay the wood. But he def dropped the hammer!

Only saw one real mistake on the missed tackle TD. Overall played well though. The whole secondary played well. Only a few mistakes overall, but most of the night they were shutting down the pass and our last line of defense on rushing plays. Lots to be glad about. The depth is stacked and Loston is the captain for sure

He's a little to concerned with laying a big hit, which I think will get him ejected at some point this year. He needs to keep his head on a swivel, find the ball (cost him an INT and pick 6 last night) and focus on making sound tackles.

Everybody loves the big hit, but I'd rather him take advantage of opportunities for turnovers and making sure he keeps himself on the field without getting thrown out.

This. I don't trust him on the back-end, and I think he's going to allow teams to get some pretty big plays this year. He's got all the physical tools, but his focus from play to play seems to solely be to make the big hit.

Out of position about a third of the time and poor tackling angles, looked just like he looked last year, lost. Not sure how long he keeps that job.

I thought he dialed the hitting down a notch, probably in accordance with the new targeting rules. There was one PBU that, if it had been last season, he would have laid out the TCU receiver.

The hit instead of going for the ball would've given him a pick six. He also took a bad angle on a TCU score. He played alright other than that.

After looking at the film, he'll make some changes necessary.

He's due to have a big year.

I've got no problem with that but I do have a problem with being out of position, taking bad angles and not tackling well.
