TCU CBs White and Verrett

I think it's safe to say that we won't see a better tandem of CBs the rest of the season. Verrett showed why he was an all-American and White made a ton of timely PBUs. 251 yards passing on a top notch defense that returns most of their starters is pretty impressive for game 1. And Mettenberger actually could have had more yards if our WRs could have held on to a few passes. Teams tend to make their biggest improvement from game 1 to 2, so I expect us to very rolling by the time we get to SEC play. Cameron will also continue to mold the offense towards our strengths.

That secondary was very legit.

I'm with you. White and Verrett were pretty legit. Mett had to throw in some tight windows.
#1 for TCU had a tough game. He got abused a few times and Landry leveled his arse early in the game(I think it was on the first Beckham reverse)

The entire defense was legit - very well coached and solid athletes.

You forgot about Purifoy, Roberson, and VH3?

I remember people were laughing when we mentioned that the TCU secondary was very good

UF has a top 3 secondary in the country. I'm not saying Mett didn't look good last night, because he did.
But UF's secondary will test LSU's offense more than TCU's did.

Agree - these will be a stiffer test than were TCU's.

Oh boy, this dude will be a STUD!...Ya'll got a great one in him.

Roberson and Purifoy may be better
But TCU returned all 5 of their secondary in that 4-2-5 Defense they play. Liked what our passing game did.

I see that I will be in the minority here but I was not so impressed by them on a "draftable" level.
Did they have speed? Yes
Were they aggressive and fearless? yes but I found that they were overly aggressive and should have been called early for it especially in the endzone
Do they have heart? I don't think that any player could survive on that team without a shite load of heart. Major Kuddos to those horny frogs for having big boy heart.
I respect them as players but the bottom line is that they aren't big at all and they really didn't lock down our receivers until the field got short in the red zone. Even then, their aggressive play could have gotten them called for penalties on many plays.
Give 'em keddos for playing with the big boys but in the end, they won't match up to LSU's other opponent's secondaries when it comes to next level ability. I respect the hell out of those frogs though.

Said it on another thread, but I'll say it again here. Congrats on the W. Fun game and great atmosphere at Jerruhworld.
I was very impressed with Mett. He played real well and was tossing dimes all over the field. I was really frustrated at our lack of any pass rush outside of a couple blitzes we dialed up. Thought our secondary played well, save a couple plays here and there. Just couldn't get any consistent pressure on Mett and he had as long as he wanted to throw the ball.
Looking forward to following y'all the rest of the season. Hope y'all take the SEC.

Obviously they are coached to be VERY aggressive when they are in man. They definitely got away with PA throughout the game.
But the most impressive player on that team was #57 on the D-line, Pearson I believe. He was mainly responsible for our tough night running the ball. He blew Alexander off the line multiple times which was shocking.
That guy looks like a future NFL talent.

Players in the tcu secondary will get drafted. They are already on draft boards.

We're real excited about our interior DL. Pierson and Chucky Hunter (West Monroe kid) are going to go a long ways in shutting down ground attacks and determining how high our ceiling is this year.

Verrett will be one of the first three DBs taken in this next draft.

It won't be a huge difference. Playing in Death Valley helps a lot. Mett made Bama's secondary look like scrubs. Florida has a great secondary no doubt, but TCU also has Verrett, who's one of the highest ranked CB's in the upcoming draft. They have a high rated safety, and several other secondary plays that will get drafted. If y'all still had Matt Elam and Josh Evans then I would be worried.

Should bring back some of those prediction threads. Some stupid people claim to be college football fans.
Probably the best secondary we will face, and their DT's were legit as well. They have the athletes to challenge anyone in the B12 or whatever they call it these days.
