Is the Wilson 47D 8rd mags a longer body magazine (sticks out a little more on the bottom of a 1911) or does it use a shorter spring in order to get 8 rounds in a standard sized 7 rd mag?

I'm pretty sure the bumper pad on the base is the only thing that makes it longer.

Appreciate the help Marine and Bapple.

Yeah I did some research later that night...and determined the same thing. One could call me lazy for not looking first before asking the OB...or on the other hand...I was just using the resources the OB has with 1911 owners.

No worries happy to help, been shooting accurized .45s for years with 7 rd mags, but honestly if I need 8 rounds in a gunfight I will be transitioning to my MP5.

And if you're concerned about the bumper pad they do make the 47 with a slimmer pad.
