Has anyone ever received a message from a dead relative or friend?

About 8 years ago, a good friend of mine committed suicide. This tore me up beyond belief, as I was still in college and I just couldn't imagine why he would have done it.
Anyway, I was having a real hard time dealing with it. About 2 or 3 days after the funeral, I had a dream about him.
We were sitting in a class we had together in high school and he was just talking to me like it never even happened. He shot himself in the chest and I asked to see the wound since he was acting as if it never even happened. He gladly showed me his back where the bullet had apparently exited. It was just a very small scar. He told me "don't worry, I'm ok now". So I asked him "why'd you do it" and he responded with no words, he just smiled.
Then I asked him "How is Heaven"? He just looked at me, smiled and looked off in the distance. He said "sparkly and golden".
Then the dream ended. I have been comforted by that dream ever since then. Was it simply a dream or did he sense a need to comfort me with a message - who knows? I don't know what exactly it was. I do know it was extremely vivid, though. Also, I dream about him pretty regularly still and have yet to dream a dream about him where he talked to me. Every dream I've had since then, he refuses to talk to me. Almost like he can't hear me talking to him and asking him questions. He participates in whatever activity we're doing but he just won't talk. The only time he's ever communicated with me in a dream was this first dream I had of him after his funeral. Does it mean anything? I have no clue.
Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this?

I think most people have had dreams of dead relatives or friends. I don't think it means that they're sending you anything. It's a dream, you're going to think of strange things like that.

seriously though. Must have felt good. I think it's less of your friend sending you a message from beyond the grave and more of your brain trying to make sense of it all at the subconscious level.

People who commit suicide go to hell, everyone knows this.

I read that as "has anyone ever received a Massage from a dead friend or relative"

ETA: I dream about a dog that died from time to time. It was nice to physically feel him again.

Your mind created a fantasy to give you much needed relief in a tragic circumstance. Simply the subconscious self-medicating. But believe whatever makes you happy, in the end that's all that matters right? Just my two cents.

Also, your friend didn't visit you from beyond the grave, there is no beyond the grave. Death is the lack of life and that's it. There is no beauty or truth in this mindless, chaotic universe. God is dead, and we all die alone.

I think of 72 virgins. But, in my religion, they are female, fine, and willing.

At least he was cool in the dream.

How bad would it have fricked you up if he was all angry and when you asked about heaven he got angrier and said he didn't know? That would have me woken up in cold sweats!

I had something similar happen when a friend committed suicide. I've also seen my father in my dreams when I've had a really difficult time. I believe in ghosts and spirits and look at them as my guardians and take great peace in it.

Pass.

I didn't mean it to be rude to your friend. A lot of people believe suicide is selfish, and the bible tells you your body is your temple and not to destroy it.

Neither of those are insta heaven passes...

So what makes us different than a bucket full of 54 gallons of water, carbon, protein and assorted other stuff? Are we just animated matter!

Yeah, sure. My best friend from HS killed himself just before his 21st birthday, and I did have a dream about him a few weeks later where he told me to chill out and relax about shite. It was a cool arse dream to be honest.

The Bible also contains no knowledge of mental illness. Apparently it does a good job of causing it, though.
