What happened with that? I remember seeing articles calling him a Kingpin, but you'd think the FBI/DEA would have taken him down if true.

Davis and Z Bo front court would be awesome...look at what the Grizzlies have done the past few years...we already have more talent at the other guard positions.

If it's coming from Memphis, their FO must think Ed Davis is ready to play big minutes.

From the realgm forum:

"Grizz and Pelicans talk happened early in free agency. Grizz turned down Gordon - Smith for Randolph and pick." Per Cam

Don't know who Cam is. If true, I'd have to imagine they had plans on moving ZBo to another team.

What we need is marc gasol. Gasol and davis would shut the paint down. Gordon and smith for marc gasol straight up. Throw in rivers too. No fs given. Do what you gotta do for marc. He's a perfect fit imo.

As much as I like randolph, he's 32 and not tall enough to be very good when he loses a step. He makes 18 mill next year, then has a player option for 17 mill which he will likely pick up. That's still one year less than eric gordon has on his contract, which can be good if dell has any FA targets in mind. Landing a good FA would give Davis and crew a good reason to stay.

Z-Bo's game isn't that reliant on quickness though and he can be used to take a beating while davis continues to grow. I'd like to get lamarcus aldridge or marc gasol, but if Zbo is the best we can do, I'd be fine with it. I wouldn't be overly thrilled, but I'm tired of gordon.

Well, yeah.

Trading Gordon for Gasol would instantly make us a playoff team without a doubt. He would be incredible next to AD. Obviously Memphis wouldn't trade him for Gordon, though.

Gordon + unlimited handjobs for Hollinger from Pelicans Talk for Gasol and cash considerations (to be given to Benson, not to us for the handjobs).

Saints are little over a week away from playing the Falcons and if I had the choice of watching that or a video from the future of the Pelicans first game, I'd definitely watch the latter. Very curious to see what kind of lineups Monty will be running, because if this trade proposal actually happened, it seems like we'll probably see AD get at least 20mpg at the 5. If there was no third team involved, there's no way we relegate Ryno/Randolph to under 20mpg.

With gasol on the team and ryno as the third big, I think the pels would instantly be contenders for a long time. I've been wanting gasol since AD touched doen in NO. It's just a pipe dream, but it seems like there is some discontent in memphis.

I don't think they'd be contenders instantly. Gotta give the players time to gel. But yeah, within a year or so we'd probably be consistently a top team in the West.

I have a hard time believing that. Memphis would riot if Z-Bo got traded

False rumor. Memphis doesn't go for it. Why would they?

They haven't had a good record of keeping guys that like to score...

Ed Davis looks ready for an bigger role and ZBo isn't exactly known as being the greatest team mate (though Gordon isn't either).

Hollinger got his job as GM because he's an advanced stat nerd. If he thinks he can get more production per cap dollar with Ed Davis and Eric Gordon than Randolph alone he'd make that trade. I'm not saying that's the case, but its not as simple as Davis vs Randolph on the court.
