We learned that the Payton era of finding undrafted talent continues...especially at the RB position.

We learned that Brees is Brees and he'll have a full stable of horses to throw to. Toon, if he stays healthy, will allow SP to put 3 Bigs (Colston, Graham, and Toon) packages in when we need it. Stills looks the part but needs to be more consistent.

We learned that there are no quick fixes for the defense. They won't be as bad as last year (pretty hard to do) but they're a long ways away from being the 49ers or Seahawks. The DL looks good. The LBs are hard to judge because most of the starters missed most of the snaps. The DBs look as lost as ever.

Robinson and White looked like trash.

Carr, Sweeting and Lindsey looked good.

I'm happy about our d-line.

I'm disappointed in Tanner, but I think a lot of these guys had an off game coming off of a short week.

This off man thing is new to our guys.

Can't blame them.
We go from press man (I think), to zone, to off man in three years.

Last night should have showed the coaching staff that Corey White does not belong. He played all game and got handled by no name Dolphin receivers.

I want to make a retarded comparison between Ingram and Khiry Robinson, but Robinson played against all the Dolphins that will get cut. I really wish Payton would have started Robinson and played him and Ingram all game.

Andy Tanner didn't play well, but then again nobody really stole the show from him. Stills and Toon are already locks, and he might just be on the outside looking in with Parker having more special teams value. I think Roby's run might be over.

Yeah, I can't read too much into it. Robinson in particular is purely a press guy. White is a converted safety from a small school.

During GW last year, we played a lot of off man coverage when we blitzed, which was awful.

Corrected for you, watson is 6'3! only an inch shorter than toon/colston :D

Didn't learn too much. If Brees gets hurt, Saints are done. The defense is going to suck, big time. Not sure it is possible to be as bad as they were last season, but they are going to be bad.

I see that Ingram is finally healthy and determined to be the leading rusher this year. Payton knows this is his make or break year.

It's hard to judge the D without Galette and Wilson. Wish we could have seen them...

We learned that Robinson made the team, as Cadet didn't even make the trip to Miami.

Umm...they did this in 3 games. Man against KC and Oakland, Zone against Houston, Off man/Zone against Miami.

Do you even preseason bro?

McCown played lights out all preseason. I actually think this dude could start for a couple of teams.

Not even close. They will be hovering around the top 20-22 in yards. They will be top 15 in scoring. And, the will be in the PLUS category in turnovers.

They played almost all zone on the first drive of the season everyone was freaking out about so much.

The Jets and Bills are so pissed right now. I'd go so far to say that RG4 is better than Chase Daniel at this point.

I really think Corey White lost his spot. He got destroyed.

What we learned this Preseason.

My observations:

McCown is the right guy for the backup job, today. I think Griffin is 2 years out before he can be considered the lone backup.

I think the LT battle was over in game 2. Charlie Brown, FTW. I have a lot of confidence in him now.

The Oline has a whole (starters and backups) is probably one of the better ones that have been here, collectively.

The Dline is clearly the strength of the D, followed closely by the ILB position. The top 6 guys on Dline and top 4 guys at ILB can play in rotation. That's going to help later in the season.

The DBs are a work in progress. I think Lewis needs reps and will get picked on early, until he proves himself. I think the 3rd CB position (Robinson/White) is a liability. However, I'm super excited about Vaccaro.

OLB is going to be a big problem. I'm hoping that Wilson and Galette are everything we think they are.

The WRs and TEs are about as deep and reliable as any that the Saints have ever had. The offense should be fun.

I think either RB chosen, Robinson or Cadet, will not play a big part unless someone gets hurt.

And haralson.

It's difficult to say anything about the position without seeing these guys.

I mean, we probably wouldn't be praising the DL if Jordan, foster, walker, and hicks hadn't been playing.

Yep. Will be inactive every week, esp. if it's Robinson, as I now think it will be.

I think Cadet's not travelling to Miami meant that he's gone, Roby stays, and Robinson is at least on the PS, depending on the Tanner/Parker decisions.

Williams let them play what they were comfortable with for the most part, either press or off man.

Greer played off and Porter(he played both), Jenkins, and PRob played press. I think I remember Gay playing press. McKenzie played off.

Say hello to lots of shoot out, high scoring games and 9 wins max.
