The ESPN effect on on-air commitments

Ok, if a top 5 player was deciding between Oregon State and USC, and was planning on announcing on ESPN who they were committing to....And you were ESPN, and facilitated their announcement on live TV to generate ratings and additional interest...
Would there be reason to believe that ESPN would come out the same if the recruit committed to either school, since the time leading up to the decision left the audience on both sides equally interested, giving the same ratings either way?
Or, would there be more benefit to have the "favorable association" with the larger fan base (in the USC type of team) receiving the commitment? (some form of an emotional positive for ESPN since it played out well for the larger fan base)..
And, if Alabama has a sizeable advantage in the area of national following/interest in comparison to LSU, is there an advantage for ESPN if Cam commits to Bama?
Ok, maybe this is a stretch of a topic (is it Sat game time yet?), but I was wondering if there was any merit to it.

Did you just compare us to Oregon State? WTF.

Someone told me last night that no one watches ESPN for recruiting when I was suggesting why the CR's announcement was moved to a different day. So to answer your question, I don't know.

Ok, there is no good analog if the compare to Bama is USC...maybe Oregon is better, but that is not so great either...

Really what you're asking is "Is ESPN helping Bama get kids who I think should come to LSU?"
I doubt it. What is beneficial to Bama isn't the ESPN coverage. It's the morons like you who come on here and look for reasons or someone to blame as to why a kid would chose Bama over LSU. Not everyone is a Tiger fan, even kids from the state of Louisiana. I know that is hard to comprehend but it's true.
And yes, he did compare LSU to OSU....terrible

I am not blaming anyone in any way. I am simply discussing whether it plays to ESPN's advantage to go out of their way to cover something if they have reason to believe it will go a certain way.
If someone in the Disney/ESPN team had a personal conversation with Lil' Nicky and got a tip off, it is theoretically possible they/ESPN may cover it differently, IF the assertion that their is an advantage has merit.

They're going to show top recruits whether they're going to Bama, LSU, or Stony Brook. It's the coverage of the players not the school itself.

I'm pretty sure they meant that nobody respects/watches the ESPN rankings for recruiting. Everybody watches ESPN on TV for sports.
