Recruits like CR are young men under tremendous pressure going into their senior year. In large part, these early announcements are to relieve some of the stress hoping to focus better on other things. Some actually don't know what will come out of their mouths until the microphone is stuck in their face & the red light comes on.

No way in hell Bama wins 7 out of 8 national titles. $500 Paypal Bet that Bama doesn't win a national title the 3 years that Cam is in college.

the fact of the matter is that we knew when saban went to bama the SEC changed for us. bama would be the big obstacle for us to overcome in winning championships. and saban knows louisiana and still as some influence in the high school ranks. it is what itis. LSU still signs most of the top talent in the state and it seems like each year saban gets one. it hurts like hell for me because because i hate saban bama and have ever since his last yr at LSU. the ONLY way to counter that is out of state recruiting and i can tell you les miles and company are by far the best out of state recruiters LSU has ever had. if this kid picks bama frick him. we need to double up efforts to sign other OL. it is but one position on the football team.

Bama? fricking Mett had his BEST passing game that day. So, LT did okay. Hell. Make a tackle on that screen pass and LSU wins...so, no. Not just the LT

Or don't make 4-5 boneheaded offensive coaching calls and bama doesn't get a chance to come back.

I don't necessarily agree with this. Some players like the challenge of earning a NC, not just hopping on a train that has been going there for years. So he goes to AL and they win a couple more NCs with him there? Most would agree, they probably would have won them without him anyway. I guess what I am saying is some people would prefer to pilot the plane, than ride as a passenger.

I WANT Cam Rob at LSU. I doubt.

But, I will wager that no one will ever say (in the next 4(?) years)..."Wow. If we only had Cam Rob at LT, we would have won the NC"

I'll bet that is never said by anyone

Again, I want him in P & G and will be disappointed. But, perspective

It's all pieces to the puzzle and yes an All-American LT can help you win a title without a doubt. And having a sub par LT can cost you a title without a doubt. I don't think there is any one player in college football that can take a 6-6 team and put them on a team and they win the Title. But you put the pieces together and they help you win. Having an All-American LT can help make the difference and being ranked #1 to #3 in the country means he is projected as an All-American in college and a player who will be playing on Sundays.

Am I wrong?

I'm the last one to freak out over a recruit, but to say that an elite LT is no loss is not true.

No you are not wrong. If CRob chooses Bama it is a big loss for 2 reasons. First being projected as anywhere from the #1 to #3 recruit in the nation means simply he is a difference maker and expected to start and contribute big-time when he is a freshman, become a multi year All-American along with eventually playing on Sundays. That is what that means when you are ranked that high in the nation. Just ask any scout if that is what they mean when they put the recruit that high in the rankings and I promise you they will all say yes.

And second losing that LT to Bama, which has been and will continue to be, the team we fight year in-year out to win the West and the SEC, is that much more of a blow.

If we lose CRob to Bama, this will really suck no matter how anyone tries to spin it. It will suck. Will it be the end of the world for LSU football? Absolutely not. We will sign other good OL? Absolutely yes. But this will definitely hurt and he is a difference maker, no matter what people say or think. Just look at it, what are the premier positions coming out of college football right now that get drafted the highest besides the QB? Tackles and DE
