What's the best thing Coach Cam will bring

I feel the best thing he will brings will be the ability to extend drives and get a few extra first downs on third and long situations. Every game we lost last year all had a common theme, the defense wore down during the fourth quarter.
We were in every game last year with a great chance to win with an offense that wasn't clicking on all clinders. Thank goodness it's game week and we can finally see what all the hype surrounding Coach Cam ability to coach the offense. If he can get the O ranked in the top 40 in the country we will not be beat. Lets geaux tigers and do the damn thing

Cameron’s experience in developing quarterbacks would bode well for an almost lethargic Mettenberger. While Mettenberger hasn’t lived up to the hype yet, he has tremendous upside and a big arm, and with the right play calls and teacher, his production shouldn’t go anywhere but up. I think people are heavily sleeping on LSU this year. Time will tell.

I wish he could bring Mett new legs

Yes, being more mobile would be nice.

Flairs, screens, and TE/HB passes...JMHO

Making Mett crisp in his drops, footwork, Mechanics. Play action passing. Utilization of TE's and the possibility of non-scripted trickeration, and maybe, just maybe, putting particular players in the best possible positions/roles to maximize their talents.

Typically takes longer than one yr to develop a qb.

We have been competitve in every game (minus NC) we've lost without a legitamite OC. Think about that.
Bringing in Cam gives Stud the responsibility to soley focus on coaching the O-Line which is huge in itself and Cam Cameron's history in QB coaching is remarkable. These two factors in themselves are an upgrade even before hitting the field

I can spout off countless offensive coordinators that would disagree with you and have proven otherwise.
A huge factor in a championship quarterback is vision though. The ability to see the field is so under appreciated and yet so critical which Mettenberger had in the Alabama and South Carolina game last year. A guy with great vision can see a vertical route out of the corner of his eye and turn an incompletion or short gain into a touchdown.
The ability to see is innate, in my opinion. I don't think you can coach a guy to be able to see. It is the same thing with great runners. The superstars can see the next cut before it happens. In the same sense, a great quarterback can see and visualize the play and defensive structure and be able to turn the routine play into the spectacular.
Cam Cameron is for real in my opinion. He will bring a highly touted offense. I am very optimistic. Probably because we will finally have an offense.

My hope,
my wish,
my dream,
is that Cam will end the personnel packages and formations that announce to the entire world exactly where we are going to run the ball. I don't have a problem with the philosophy of having a power running game, I don't have a problem with running more than passing the ball, but I do have a problem with stubbornly thinking that you are going to run the ball anytime, anyplace, and anywhere you want to, "damn the 9 defensive players in the box". It allows weaker teams to outman you at the point of attack. I don't care how big and strong your O-line and fullback are, 3 guys aren't going to block 4 defenders.
It was flat out retarded to only put in Michael Ford to run the outside runs, Kenny Hilliard between the tackles, Spencer Ware at quarterback to run only quarterback sneaks, or to think that throwing quick slants was a way to beat the 9 man defensive fronts.

An actual offensive philosophy

true, but Mett is a 5th-year senior with ridiculous natural talent.
and re: the new feet comment someone else made, he'll never be a mobile qb, but Cam has been working on Mett's movement--just making the right moves with what he's got will go a long way.
We saw what Mett can do, v. Bama, so if Cam can help him attain that and beyond, and with even slightly improved O-line play, the O will give D a breather.

Let's hope our performance in the red zone improves under Cam.
