suggestions on purchasing a new bow.

i haven't shot in years, and am returning to the states in november after my deployment so i decided to get myself a new bow. my old man already has an ar 15 for me.
any bowhunters out there? id also like to do some archery contests in the future as well.
what are the best brands out there? ive used pse inh the past. but after looking through cabels ive seen so many new bows and arrows im out of the loop
