4-5* recruited by Miles:

Collins 5* (Starting. Will get drafted barring injury.)
T-Bob 4* (Not drafted)
Big Herm 4* (3rd round pick)
Chris Faulk 4* (Injury LY killed his draft potential. Probably should have come back for 2013.)
V Alexander 4* (Starting)
Corey White 4* (Transferred)
Jarvis Jones 4* (Transferred)
Black 4* (Bad knees. Never drafted and out of football.)
Zhamal Thomas 4* (Dismissed)
Andy Dodd 4* (Currently on roster)
Trai Turner 4* (Starting)
Carneal Ainsworth 4* (Injuries forced him out of football)
Clay Spencer 4* (left after 2 years)
Matt Allen 4* (Transferred)
Stavion Lowe 4* (Transferred)
Josh Dworaczyk 4* (6 year player)
Greg Shaw 4* (Career backup. Undrafted)
Derek Edinburgh 4* (Current backup)

..that is a shot load of attrition and bad luck with injuries.

The 3* players under Les:

Elliot Porter 3* (Starting)
Steve Singleton 3* (Transferred)
Jerald Hawkins 3* (Starting)
Cordian Hagans 3* (Transferred)
Mark Snyder 3* (Injuries forced him out)
Thomas Parsons 3* (Injuries forced him out of football)
Jonah Austin 3* (Current backup)
Alex Hurst 3* (Mysteriously quit midseason LY. Would have been drafted)
PJ Lonergan 3* (3 year starter. Undrafted)
Josh Williford 3* (Forced out of football due to concussions)

More bad luck with injuries and attrition.

Basically, under Miles' tenure, only FIVE guys (6 if you count Barksdale) could have been drafted due to injuries and transfers.

It's tough to consistently put players in the NFL out of your OL when only 6/28 players over 8 or so years made it to the draft healthy enough to be picked.

If I'm missing someone, please feel free to add.

Yeah, the injuries and such are bad luck, but I just don't think Stud is that great of an OL coach either.

I approve of this message. Worded much better than when I try to explain to people we are literally just recovering fully from massive OL attrition years ago.

OL is like that everywhere. 5 men hold down the line at a time. You don't just recruit one at a time. There is always heavy attrition.

Pretty sure the sentiment is out there that Miles is "driving away the talent at OL." I REALLY REALLY love the group this year though.

Would have liked it separated by Injuries and Transfers rather than by Stars, but to each his own. Also, feel free to add the fact that T-Bob probably hurt himself with that stupid DUI and allegedly trying to go head to head with Miles

When only 6 players over a 6 year period (2008-2013) make it to the draft as a potential healthy prospect, you have much more attrition than 99% of other Top 10 programs.

I do expect the OL to play better this year with Stud being on the sidelines. At least he doesn't have to worry about the entire offense anymore.

I have no problem with the amount of attrition on the OL. That usually means we have a consistent group of guys that start for 2-3 years.

I would think if you took 5 positions as a whole for any team and did the same analysis you would find that this is no different for any position for many teams that recruit well. Players that are 4* and dont see immediate action or a chance in 2 years or so and have a lot of competition will look elsewhere for opportunity.

I don't think we've had a 50% attrition rate anywhere else over that same timeframe.

I'll reiterate my post from the CR thread:

Andre Smith - 1RD - 6th overall
Antoine Caldwell - 3rd round
Mike Johnson - 3rd round
James Carpenter - 1st Round 25th Overall
Chance Warmeck - 1st round 10th overall
DJ Fluker - 1st round 11th overall
Barret Jones - 4th round

Koundiajo will be a 1st rounder this coming season.

What has LSU had picked on the OL in the last 6 years?

Barksdale - 3rd round
Herman Johnson - 5th round

Faulk, had he come back was likely a 1st round pick without injury and at least a 3rd round pick had he played.

That's it in Miles/Stud tenure. You absolutely cannot deny that. That's an atrocious track record for OL

link?

seriously, unless you have data from other top programs for comparison, you're claim is unsubstantiated at the moment.

Why don't you collect the data to dismiss that point?

Saban's o-line doesn't have nearly as much attrition.

It does bear thinking about. The offensive lines under Miles have regressed. Why?

Injuries at the OL position is something LSU has had that Alabama has not faced.

Just in the last 2-3 years, Alabama has had 7 guys drafted over the last 4 years at OL while we have had only 6 healthy players over the last 6 drafts who were eligible to BE drafted.
