How the Landrieu family gets rich in politics--well at least one example

Seems supper lobbyist Tony Podestra has hired Mr. Mary Landrieu (Frank Snelling) to sell a $1.89 million townhouse that he bought in 2009 using Mr. Snelling as an agent then too.

On the surface one might say that Mr. Snelling is an enterprising guy that has followed his political careerist wife around and adapted quite well.

One might say that or one might be more cynical and say Mr. Snelling is the bag man for bribes of Mrs. Landrieu. Mr. Podestra represents Lockheed Martin and BP. Mrs. Landrieu chairs the Homeland Security Appropriations subcommittee. She frequently advocates for BP. It seems Lockheed Martin is the fourth largest contractor of the Department of Homeland Security.

LINK

Of course none of this is confined to just the Landrieu family. The political elite have been getting rich since the railroad days by manipulating government on behalf of deep pocketed special interest. Tauzin, Breaux, Lott, Delay, Gore, Clintons and on and on.

Big government is inherently corrupt.

I read this today. I don't think it is as nefarious as some do.

So are spouses of politicians relegated to only working the drive-thru at Burger King? Are they not themselves allowed to get a white-collar job for fear they may run across someone their spouse works with?

I never heard about her husband but realized there had to be one somewhere. He has obviously pays for his sins each and every night when he gets into bed with the manatee.

It's all in scope of the truly important question. Do we continue to allow bribery (lobbying) of our public officials?

I know one of her cousins and can tell you that the entire family is NOT involved in the wealth sharing.

Thxs for sharing.

One more example as to why we need term limits..

The ruling class is living large and loving life while they pit the rest of us against each other.

What is Snelling taking for his commission?

If realtors in D.C. are regulated like they are down here, there is a cap on what % commission he can take.

Are you alleging the lobbyist is funneling him money some other way? Or is Snelling just not allowed to make a living?

He was a pretty successful lawyer in Monroe. Weird that he's now selling DC real estate, but as others said, I'm not sure how much of a story this is.

What is really sickening is just how much of our money politicians will give away for such small amounts of personal wealth.

Pick a juicier story to get outraged about.

This one is pretty weak..

Only because stuff like this has become the status quo.

A lobbyist selling his house?

Am I not allowed to do business with people I know?

You ever send business to a customer of supplier of yours?

As long as they are not getting more favorable terms than any other realtor would get, what is the problem?

Again, is Frank Snelling not allowed to make a living?

WOW. Sure lucky that the great Americans of the Republican Party have absolutely no dealings with or never become lobbyists.

You seem to be the only person in this thread who saw this as some sort of partisan type point.

Knowing Freeman, I'm pretty sure it's not.

Congrats for douching it up, though.
