This is brilliant (and relevent after last night's bore draw at Old Trafford): Borussia Dortmund fans have started a Twitter campaign called #freeshinji in order to persuade their club to buy back Shinji Kagawa. Here is the full story and I am again indebted to the inexhaustible people at 101greatgoals.com.

I tried to start #uncageKagawa but I'll get on board with #freeshinji

supposedly he's not fully fit. if he is fit, and still not playing, then that's just fricking stupid.

Yea I'm sure in the same way Mata isn't "fully fit".
I'm confused though, why would a Bayern fan want a highly rated player to go to his club's only domestic rival?

cuz he enjoys the Bundesliga, pretty easy to see why

The guy can't player over Tom Cleverly, Michael Carrick, or old man Ryan Giggs and United are dying to find an attacking midfielder. Obviously they (2 separate managers now) don't rate him as highly.
However, even if that were true it would just make it all the more confounding that HH would be hoping for his return to Dortmund.

So you are happy when Chelsea, Man U, Man City, Pool, Spurs sign great players? Or, assuming you're an LSU fan, you hope for alabama, Florida, Auburn etc... get 5 star commitments?
It's actually not easy at all to see why.

Not sure what you want me to tell you. I guess hendo and tweez have mental problems.

I definitely have mental problems, but they stem from other things. I don't really think it's that odd, I think it makes Bayern better and forces them to stay active in the transfer market when other teams in the league are title contenders. He's definitely really good, but I'd stop short of calling him great, he's still pretty young.

I don't care if he goes back to Dortmund. I just want to see him play.

None of those players play Kagawa's position. SAF said toward the end of last season that he thought Kagawa could be THE BEST player in the premier league. He's the main reason SAF was willing to sell Rooney.

most soccer fans I know aren't life and death crazy for some random Euro club they likely picked based on a video game. Sure, most people pick a club to follow, but mainly we just want to watch good players play.
At least that goes for me, anyway.

Well maybe it was SAF's time to go if he thought he had the best player in the league on his bench and rarely played him.
You use the term "fan" pretty loosely. If they care more about seeing good players play than about the well being of their own team I hardly think they qualify as a fan at all.

he was injured for a lot of last year. if you're just going off of his appearances...

you don't have to live and die by your favorite video game team to be a "soccer fan"
believe me.
