Great. Please don't be in top 3 rounds.

Is this guy worth that? What's the lowdown on him?

Outside LB.

In a 3-4.

21.5 sacks in 68 starts.

Didn't play last season due to injury.

Also has 21.5 career sacks. Missed all of last season with a triceps injury, but in '11 he had 2 sacks and 3 FF. He was a rotational player mostly in SF, but could have started for a lot of 3-4 teams in the league.

Outside linebacker Parys Haralson has been traded by the 49ers to the New Orleans Saints, according to multiple team sources.

Haralson bid farewell to his teammates in the locker room and declined to speak with reporters.

“He was a good mentor, taught me a lot and best of luck to him in New Orleans,” Aldon Smith said.

Haralson, an eighth-year veteran, did not play last season because of a torn triceps tendon he sustained in the third exhibition. Smith replaced Haralson in the starting lineup last season at right outside linebacker, and Smith produced a franchise-record 19 ½ sacks.

Originally selected by the 49ers as 2006 sixth-round draft pick out of Tennessee, Haralson will join a Saints team that lost outside linebacker Will Smith to a season-ending injury Saturday.

Among the teammates who shook Haralson’s hand before he left the team facility was Frank Gore, who shouted: “We play you. Be easy on me, dog.”

The 49ers visit New Orleans on Nov. 17.

Been in the league since 06 and I think this is the first time I've ever heard his name. That's promising.

I think this is really just emergency depth and was a pretty smart move. You can't go into a season with just Galette and Wilson with basically Richardson and a few undrafted rookies behind them. I like the move because you're not just hanging on by a thread in regards to not being able to sustain another single injury.

That said, Tez and Galette better take damn good care of themselves this season.

Is there any way Haralson is not an upgrade over Will Smith at that position?? I would think not.

Sad to see Smith go out like he did, but this is a good move...He was going to be by far the best OLB on the market if/when he got cut, so we had to make sure we got him first.

Guarantee this guy is an upgrade as a 3-4 OLB over Will Smith...

He's a good player. Started for the 49ers at OLB since 07. Had an injury last year that sidelined him. Averages 30-40 tackles a year and 4 sacks a year (career high 8 sacks in '08)

He's better than Will Smith. Will probably split time with Galette and Wilson if I had to guess.

Good pick up if the draft pick isn't high and it was worth it to make sure he didn't hit the market.

Odds are that it is a conditional 7th rounder. That's basically nothing for someone who will be our 3rd OLB at worst. Great deal for both sides if that's the case.

I'm going to hope and assume it's something like a 6th rounder. I'm assuming the guy was going to get cut and we just wanted to sweeten the pot. If its anything higher than a 5th, I'll be quite disappointed.
