This thread was supposed to be about reaches and has turned into value picks

The only reason you should reach on a player by a round or two is if you fear he may not be there when you pick again, not because you think he will have a monster year. This often happens with QBs if you don't grab one of the top two or three (like the RGIII example earlier).

If you're sitting with the 5th pick and teams 6,8,11 and 12 all have QBs you can pass on a qb you like when the draft is going up, but you better think about reaching when it comes back if there is 1 guy you like.

David Wilson

I reached for him with the first pick in the 3rd round and I knew it. RB's were going thin and he was not going to be there with the last pick of the 4th round... so I jumped. I can't say I'm expecting a monster year, but I sure as hell am hoping so. Other than that, I didn't reach anywhere else.

Coming off a torn ACL, I dont see him putting up those rushing #s like he did last year. I doubt Shannahan runs any designed QB running plays. And he will be telling RG3 to not run the ball. They are going to try and protect him at all costs.

I agree that they will try to be more careful, but to think Shannahan won't call any running plays seems pretty silly. RG3 won't be on the field until he is 100% and part of his game is based around him being an elusive runner. RG3 won't run as much, but I would bet he still makes plays this year with his legs.

Montee Ball in the 5th in a 10 team league. I would call that a reach...

I picked Zach Sudfeld in round 12 of a 10 team league. I already added Finley as my TE, but I snatched ZS because I didn't think he would be there by my next pick. Not really a position of need at the time, but if he blows up, I would like to have him.

Had 2 owners tell me that they were targeting him so I felt justified in getting him.

I felt so smart drafting Kenbrell Thompkins in the 11th. Literally everyone was like "who?"
