Why does it seem that LSU players are r-selected when they are in the NFL?

If anyone is to blame for Wing, it's his father. When you go around saying the only reason your son is in college is to get laid and go pro, don't be surprised how that actually works out.

I saw him questioning Miles lately in his retarded social media postings... About not giving Shep enough touches etc.

Regardless of the validity in his argument, he owes a hell of a lot to Miles/LSU and should learn to not bite the hand... So he should shut the frick up, play nice, move back to Louisiana and sell some insurance or medical devices and accept the fact that his "swag" days are long gone

So a 21 year old punter gets cut from his first NFL training camp and you think his career is over? I didn't realize that once you got cut from one team that you have no chance of picking up with another team, EVER!

LOL... been a while since I posted here.... for some reason, I caught a bunch of crap a couple years back!
Don't know Brad's father, but blaming him for his son's decisions might be a tad misguided. While I've always taught mine to be responsible for his actions, and not to hang out with the wrong people, there comes a time when you can't blame your parents for how your life turns and twists!
Going to college on a football scholarship guarantees you nothing! If you don't graduate with a solid "Plan B", as in a solid degree, you gotta look in the mirror and admit you made big mistakes! Last fall, and this one as well, my son is taking 17 credit hours toward a degree in Civil Engineering. IF, and I know its a BIG IF, he does make it in the NFL, that will be great for him... If he doesn't, he's got a solid education and a quality degree to become a successful person and tax paying member of society!
I never had an ill thought toward Brad Wing, and I still don't. I wish him well in whatever he chooses to do with his life.

If he cleans up his act there's no reason why he can't play in the NFL.

There is the little fact that he sucks at punting in comparison to hundreds of other NFL hopefuls...

Wing got a big dose of NFL reality over the past month. I expect him to be on a team's roster before the season is up, though.

I have no clue. He was a godlike figure after the Florida game in 2011. Funny how LSU "fans" can turn their back so fast.

Yeah this board is notorious for that. It's appalling.

This is a great article on professional sports careers, how short they can be and how unprepared most athletes are for life after sports.

Fans tend to turn their backs on players who choose themselves over the team. Unless your name is tyrann mathieu.

He won't. He's not that good. NFL punters average in the high 40's - low 50's. If he's barely averaging 40 then he has no shot.

It really is a shame. That 2011 season...phew. I think he should get credit for maybe 20-30% of the success that season. It was amazing how many times he either flipped the field or pinned people deep. It seemed as if he were setting a new prototype for punter of the future with his ball placement.
