Besides the obvious Bonds, McGwire, Sosa, etc

Brady Anderson in 1996 or Bret Boone going to Seattle types of seasons.

Fernando Tatis 1999: Joins Big Mac in STL and goes from 11 HRs in 150 games in '98 to 34 HRs in '99. Career went to shite after leaving STL.

Javy Lopez 2003: Coming off of seasons with 17 and 11 HRs the 33 year old hit 43 in 129 games.

Charles Johnson 2000: A career .245 hitter who never had another 20+ HR season hit 31 with a .304 AVG

What ya got?

Javy Lopez could very well have used PEDs. But he always had a 43 HR season in him. It was just a matter of putting things together. There's much better examples than him.

A slight spin off the other thread... but Helton's spike in HR during his prime years look pretty suspicious.

Yadier Molina

First 7 years of career he had a .268 BA, last 3 years he has a .318 BA

I'm not a proponent of accusing guys of PED use with no proof, but out of current players, he's one of the top candidates.

Roger Maris - 1961, hit 61 home runs, never hit more the 39 before or after.

Davey Johnson - 1973, hit 43 home runs, never hit more than 18 before or after.

I completely forgot this guy existed. I think his season may be a bigger outlier than Brady Anderson's was.

Hidalgo is up there as well.

I think he was likely on PEDs, but he was likely on it in the years before if he was on them in 2003. I don't think steroids cause one year spikes out of the blue. 2003 was a case of Javy finally being healthy, plus a some long outs and doubles turning into homers.
