One of the lil bros is thinking of doing some deer hunting in these areas. Anyone familiar with them? Worth the trouble? I have been to PR a couple of times but for duck hunting.

I've only hunted PR for ducks. I have also heard

Well the plan is to go up river and get as far away from everyone as possible. I have done some research and have found very little. I would think there are some decent size deer back in there, both are damn near completely hardwoods. I know some years back they found some bruisers locked up floating down the EPR so I would bet they are in there just hard to find.

Ive hunted bogue chitto for nearly 30 years. Katrina ruined the landscape but the thickness it made since has help create more critters. Especially hogs! Theyre about to totally over run it. Its hard to get around in but if you're willing to work there's some good animals in there.

He is trying to decide where he wants to dedicate most of his time. Its between PR WMA and Joyce. I have seen some damn fine deer taken out of Joyce and would think PR would hold the same caliber deer if not better.

I've done a few hunts in Pearl River and it wasn't too bad.

We only went when weather was terrible so that probably helped.

In younger days used to fish and hunt a lot between locks near talisheek

We did have some odd run ins from time to time

Even way up there about 15 years ago a guy hog hunting shot a kid paddling a canoe

Thought it was a hog
