I disagree. If this is the best Deadspin can do to somehow expose ESPN for manufacturing stories, then that's pretty weak. Jaws gave an over the top opinion and sports people talked about it for news cycle. Big deal. It's the cool thing to hate ESPN I guess, but the Deadspin article was lame much ado about nothing.

Pretty much. The ESPN haters are so lame. I love how they are so excited about FS1 which is going to be just an even more poorly produced, less quality content (gamewise) version of ESPN.

He's one of the most polished, well spoken former collegiate athletes out there.

He speaks proper English but he is a horrible interview and is supremely awkward/lame. He would be horrible as a TV personality.

No doubt. He's way too awkward for TV.

I said this on a different thread, and I'll say it here.

ESPN is a symptom of a greater problem that is today's corporate media.

And Deadspin is symbolic of the fact that our media watchdogs would create an EVEN WORSE model, which is hard to believe.

To be fair, I lump Deadspin in with the corporate media. They are a part of Gawker Media and are beholden to many of the same corporations who dominate the dialogue in mainstream media.

I thought this was common knowledge? This practice happens all the time in the regular media. The editorial talking heads actually do it to eachother. Limbaugh will comment on somebody else commenting on what he originally commented on.

One thing ESPN does is report something very minor, and then try to blow it up into a big story.

For example... Manziel got kicked out of a frat party. Okay? First of all, this shouldn't even be news.

Secondly, they took that and kept talking about it and talking about it and talking about it, making it seem like this is the big story right now that everybody is talking about... when in actuality ESPN was making a big deal out of nothing.

They will take one guy and try to make a bunch of stories about them. They will blow up non-stories about them to make it seem like this person is doing a whole bunch of stuff right in a row. Then they will die it down once they find a new athlete to cover TMZ-style.

It is ridiculous how they operate.
